If GM would have advertised the G8 more and maybe even gave it a real name I know they could have sold a whole shit load more. If I had a dollar for everytime someone stared at this car and ask's me about it I could buy a Camaro to.

Would I like to see a Chevy version of the G8? BOY HOWDY!!!!
Any GXP 6 speed manuals that you might be looking to unload?

I think the G8 would have sold better had it been advertised, had a name with recognition: Tempest? Grand Prix? Ventura?

I also think it should have gone to Chevrolet BEFORE it went to Pontiac as the rest of the product line it is built around would be a better fit for the bowtie brigade: The El Camino and Sportwagen would have fit well over at Chevrolet. Let's hope that Mr. Henderson's mind can be changed.

Agreed that GM dropped the ball on advertising the G8. Dropped the ball in not making a chevy version. Great fumble recovery is to bring it to the bowtie league and advertise the hell out of it. Something like this

ok here what I would like to see with the G8 line

ready for it????

Keep the Impala (wimpala)
rebadge the G8 as the new Malibu, The Malibu S/t (sports truck) that was slated for the G8 S/t guess what, you have your el camenio(SP) back back where it belongs. want a top line G8 GTP Or GXP guess what that becomes your Chevelle.

The Pontiac Sol, if thats not something bring it back under the chevy line as the Chevette lol.

Malibu's staying FWD...no ifs, ands, or buts...it's supposed to be GM's camry-killer.

One of my good friends was on the verge of buying a G8 GXP when this news broke...

... If he goes out and buys the car, will his warranty be honored as if the brand still existed? is there any negative aspect of buying the car?

A tick over 13.0 sec. and you're through the quarter-mile. It's a rush, of course, but not overly dramatic. Try the same thing with this pair's predecessors of 1970 or so and you'll find yourself in a bit of a wrestling match. Ain't progress wonderful? Maybe yes, and maybe sometimes it's fun to wrestle."

I'm not the all-father, but I can pretty much tell you that the warranty is a GM warranty, not a Pontiac warranty so, yes, the warranty would still be honored by any GM dealer.

They are trying to save their company, for goodness sake, the last thing they want to do is leave GM customers who purchased a product from a car line they chose to discontinue high and dry.

That's what they did when Oldsmobile was killed off, they took the (excellent in my opinion) Bravada, put on a new front clip, different emblems and wheels and sold it as the BuickRainer (they even kept the sheet metal from the A pillars back) and didn't even change the tail lights

I really hope they do something like the G8, it is far too nice of a car to kill off along with Pontiac. Offer it with the 3.6 DI 304 HP 6 and I would buy one .

That's ashame it seems to be a solid car!

Maybe the v6 direct injection could help the sales?

Also I don't think the G8 name helped it.

Parts have been a problem................ It is a slow boat ride to get stuff off the shelf from down under. This will get worse with dead status.

This size is too small for Impala but fits CHEVELLE to a T.

So there is reason enough for a G3, but not for a Chevrolet version of the G8? I get the whole BMW fighting brand, and I love that, but there was no time given for development. Should have had an exit strategy for such an excellent vehicle.
