The point being is that getting into cal. vs cal. argument is a bad idea. The advice that should be given is to get something that is 100% reliable, something that can be handled easily/ accruately, and something that can be carried everyday....regardless of clothing. |

Glock
I carry a Glock 23 in 40 S&W and it's a very comfortable carry weapon. My wife carries a Bersa Thunder 380 which is probably one of the most concealable carries on the market today with reasonable stopping power. The Bersa, at under $300, is a great bargain as well. My Glock 23 carries 16 rounds and is a little on the heavy side for a semi-compact, but I feel confident that if I ever need to use it, it will serve me well.

But the glocks are heavy for sure. i pocket carry a lcp everyday. A kahr pm9 or the new lc9 or lcr by ruger are also good choices for a light, easy concelabale gun. I would rather see more people comfortbaly carrying a gun then not carrying at all. If i had my choice, I'd carry my kimber .45, but I would need a backpack to hide that thing on my narrow ass. |

I looked at a Kahr and they were even more pricey than the Glock, but very nice gun. If hiding wasn't the issue, I would have a new Remington R1 in 45 caliber...I love that gun. |

Can anyone confirm or deny that post-86 burst fire weapons are legal in TEXAS with a permit?

Permit is also the wrong term. It is a tax stamp. You file paperwork and pay $200 each to the ATF for SBRs, SBSs, suppressors, etc and they enter the weapon into the NFA registry. It is a one time deal per weapon per NFA item. A short barreled rifle with a suppressor would be $400 for 2 tax stamps. If you want burst or auto capability, buy a bumpfirestock for an AR15 (assuming you have one) or if you have an AK47, there is a company that makes a similar product for them as well. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Firearms_Act Lots of answers here: http://www.ar15.com/forums/f_6/17_General_Class_3.html specifically the thread titled "top NFA myths" |
