I think you need to wheel across town your nearest comic book shoppe, and I highly recommend
  • Amazing Spider-Man (pretty much always a good read)
  • Animal Man (sick art, intense story)
  • Aquaman (surprisingly good)
  • Batman (really good story right now involving Batman taking on a secret society which has been hidden in Gotham for nearly 200 years)
  • Superior (it's a hybrid of Superman meets the movie 'Big' - a kid gets one wish, and becomes a Superman type superhero, but there's a twist)
  • Venom (Flash Thompson now wears the Venom symbiote and works as a black-ops secret agent for the US Govt)

With the exception of Amazing Spider-Man, these are all relatively new books, and it wouldnt be too hard to jump onto any of them.
All the DC books have been rebooted and are only 5 issues deep, so right now, DC is the most accessible as far as new readers jumping on. I'm mostly a Marvel guy too, but have become a big DC fan lately.

Enjoy,

That's an impressive collection Peele. Do you use anything to catalog them?

I use http://comicbookrealm.com/ they have a great/free comic book price guide as well as a way to catalog every book you own

I've used Wizard in the past to price comics, so this may be a good online resource. This thread actually got me thinking about cataloging my collection, and I was actually starting to set up a database to do that.

You say that they havve a way to catalog your collection. Do you have to be a member of the site to see that functionality, as I didn't see anything at first glance.

I love French language comic books (bandes dessinées). They have more adult content, fo' shizzel.

Don't really collect anymore, but I do enjoy going back over the classics I still have. Weapon X, Killing Joke, and Frank Miller's Robocop are a few of my faves.

Yes, you need to be a member, but it's a free registration. Then you can track all your books values, see how much you've spent, and they've even got a member forum, as well as a 'for sale' section.

Am I the only one who reads comic books in French and Spanish? Surely one of ya' has looked through a cómico de Kalimán (Spanish) or a numéro de Fluide Glacial (French).

Thank you...I have created a sort of "database" in Excel that I have been keeping up to date for the past few years. Thanks for the link...I will definitely check into it!
