So Scottrade made a slight error

When I woke up this morning, my brokerage account value was listed as:

$127,847,091.83

Unfortunately it's now back to normal.

You should have transferred $500,000 to your bank account as soon as you saw it.

I called my local Scottrade office immediately. What confused me was the numbers didn't have anything to do with my actual account value. This happened once before, but it was just a decimal error that showed an extra 0 at the end. This time it was just some random enormous amount of cash. They told me it has something to do with me recently opening a margin account with them. I was hoping I just some crazy lucky fat finger trade LOL. It sure would have been nice. Could have a few new homes, a nice collection of zr1/z06/zl1, a new gt500 and a bunch of exotics. Now I'm just depressed I'm not a 100-millionaire

I trade mostly based on technical indicators and momentum in short term. A lot of options and scalping/shaving. In the long term I am heavily focused on carbon fiber composite companies, especially Zoltek, as they just expanded their Auto division and there is a lot of insider buying. Plus Obama is subsidizing carbon fiber and advocating American business partnerships and many Auto manufacturers are snatching up carbon fiber producer contracts to lighten up future vehicles. I have a blog about this stuff, but I just took it down to make some changes a few days ago per my lawyer's advice. I'll let you know when I get it back up.

What stinks is that it was their mistake but if you had touched any of it they would have had some badges up your whoozit so fast it would sound like a major league catcher's mitt taking a fastball.

What I got from this story is that I don't want to use them for trading.
I'm usually nervous enough about tossing my money out there without knowing something like this has happened at the company holding my 'chips'.

I'd almost feel safer 'investing' at the racetrack.

...almost.
