Cost would be a DIY with reman used parts and new sensors.
Ease would be a high dollar plug n play like Edelbrock.

If he's not in a hurry you could put your own system together and it would work just as well as any kits for half the price. It would be a great learning experience too.

He's gonna be doing it. I could go in and help and learn but they live 2 and a half hours away. I"d be going in to watch and help if he needs or wants it. I gotta talk to him and see what he's come up with.

Let me guess, it comes WITHOUT a spousal ass whooping.
Funny how priorities change, few months back I just wanted 2k to get the full kit so I can slap a turbo on it and it does all the tuning work. [Holley just includes better sensors that can handle anything you toss at it, kit comes with everything]

Now I just want to take the GF and her kids to Disney.

Ya but that's awesome. Kids will never forget it. The skullmobile will have to wait.

There's always the cheapest option, rebuilt and installed carb by a pro that knows what they're doing... Carbs aren't as efficient, but they still work as well as they ever did. The only issue there is finding the right guy to do the rebuild/install.

Just talked to him. He's leaning EZ EFI or PowerjectionIII.

So which ever one would give less potential for problems. Like what Spike mentioned to me about a clip in vs screw in sensor.

Plus, if one is maybe more tuner AND self tuning friendly would be a plus.

its not that you "can't" do it.

I can't find a full kit. Not sure what all we need so I can't price out a 'ala carte' kit.

Hot rodders have been rolling their own for years, lots of experience on different websites to help get it up and running.

I saw a Holley OEM replacement throttle body on ebay for $370 shipped. (new return, needs gasket) Depending on the carb AMC used, I imagine theres an intake adapter available that will work.

You might talk to speedster, his car is using an aftermarket system, but more complicated since it has to talk to the body control module and trans control module. Bro-in-law wouldn't have that problem.

lol, No doubt. Speedster only will have 1500 or so more hp.

Ya, I PMed him about it. He hadn't heard of the Powerjection line but kinda said the same as everyone else.
