At B-J, isn't the picture above of the 2011 Indy Pace car "numbered 1 (???) " is this the same car that sold at auction last year for about $225,000. which also included a lap around the track and festivities at the track ??!! Is this really numbered 1 ??? I know there are some great historians on here..

Becky, I wouldn't be surprized if Ron Pratte acted as an "agent" for his good friend Mr. Hendrick. Pratte is well-known for FORD Charity purchases, but NOT GM...and AARP is a sponsor of the Hendrick/Gordon #24...

"Proper appearances" comes to mind...

I love watching Barrett Jackson just to see all the awsome cars. Only problem I see is that everyone with an old car thinks it's worth what they see them sell for on tv. Now everyone with a 69 Camaro suddenly has a priceless collector car, no matter what amount of rust and filler it has.

And that is why I drive a 2011 and couldn't replace my 1969 I sold back in 1993. Maybe someday I'll stumble on one for the right price.

To honor the men and women of America's Armed Forces, the GM Military Discount Program commissioned Mickey Harris to create this Camaro. All proceeds to benefit Achilles Foundation.
Details:
The Military Tribute Camaro was commissioned to proudly honor the men and women of America's Armed Forces and represents all five branches and features some of the military's highest individual awards and current campaign medals on separate sections of the vehicle. All proceeds from the sale of this vehicle will benefit the Achilles Freedom Team of Wounded Veterans. Army (front driver side) - Navy (rear driver side) - Marine Corps (front passenger side) - Air Force (rear passenger side) - Coast Guard (vehicle trunk) - Distinguished Service Cross, Silver Star and Afghanistan Campaign Medal (driver side) - Navy Cross, Bronze Star and Iraq Campaign Medal (passenger side). This rolling work of art features the work of world-renowned airbrush artist Mickey Harris. Harris grew up on military installations and has been airbrushing for 33 years and has an extensive portfolio of military art. His concept for the Military Tribute Camaro was simple: to honor those who serve and have served. Mickey explained, "I wanted something that accented the body lines and also told the story of the armed services. It became two paintings in one. I call it Strength and Honor. The strength is the silver of the car, and the honor is the many scenes." General Motors has a long-standing commitment to support the men and women serving our country and is a proud sponsor of the Achilles Freedom Team of Wounded Veterans. Since its inception in 2004, Achilles works closely with the physical therapists at Walter Reed National Medical Center in Bethesda, MD; Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego, CA; and Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, TX. These young military men and women are coming back to the U.S. with severe physical and emotional injuries. Program participants are encouraged to begin training for competitive sports marathons as a way to build strength and self-confidence, using prosthetics and hand-crank wheelchairs. All injured military personnel and veterans are eligible for the program, whether the injury is combat or non-combat related.
**ALL PROCEEDS TO BENEFIT ACHILLES FOUNDATION
