joined to learn and decide

long way to get here but I'll try to make it short...as I can.

I planned for two years to absolutely buy a 2010-11 Camaro, when I went in to drive (ready to buy) one the salesman put me in a V6 car with the RS pkg and sunroof to test drive. (I wasn't sure but I planned on the SS/RS)

only driving a C1500 or Avalanche for 20+ years I'm sure caused this but...

my impressions after test driving a 2011 was that it was super stiff but handled very well, the V6 RS I drove ran well but sounded like a 4cyl , and the only view I had out of the windshield was that of the back edge of the hood and the HUD... the sunroof even seemed to be in the backseat. I told the salesman that the car was either way too serious for me or I was just getting to old for this kind of car. I went in ready to order or locate one more Camaro and left totally deflated and feeling very old.

a year later I'm wondering....

I may not have given the Gen5 a fair chance, getting out of an Avalanche and being surprised with how the Camaro felt.

I did buy a new car that I thought was more comfortable and just seemed "less serious" and more fun with better driver visibility. I love it, it's great but it's not a Camaro and some of the issues I blamed on the Camaro this car has too but I didn't realize it then, this was the second car I drove and I'm thinking I should have given the 5th Gen another test drive before I jumped.

I've owned 5 Camaros over the years, two 1stGen, two 2cdGen, and one 3rdGen and it feels kinda weird owning something other than a Camaro so I guess I need to give the car a second chance and see if I judged too quickly or harshly and learning from current owners the good and not as good points behind 5thGen ownership before I go any further.

thanks,

Terry

Welcome!

You do absolutely need to give it another chance. Drive the V8, see how it compares. Go to a large dealership and see if you can test drive the Camaro with the options that most interest you.

diver88, Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, wive's, husbands and boyfriends here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

Welcome to Camaro5. Good decision to come here to learn. Give it another chance, try for an extended test drive in a Camaro that is close to what you want.
