Hey BCS, how about in the future you let the top four teams have a playoff? 1 vs. 3, 2 vs. 4, winners meet for BCS title game. Now if the Tide was to play OSU for the BCS final game......we would a true BCS CHAMP!!!
PQ, get busy on submitting that playoff format to the BCS!!!

On it.
But I like Johns point better. Top 6 teams 1 & 2 have a bye 3 plays 6 4 plays 5 But I fear that you'd still have people complaining. Sure as I type this a team would go undefeated into the playoff and get the bye and then lose a tight game and people would claim that they had the best 'overall' season.

You are NEVER going to satisfy everyone...NEVER....Number 7 would complain in the 6 team format.....4 would complain in the 4 team format......People complained the way it was before the BCS and now about the BCS.
I will say this though this playoff system will have some funny out of the way idea that will dimish it I believe....I am thinking that the conferance champions will play and every conference will have to have a title game. Than the mess starts. Say UConn when they were the Big East Champs or if UCLA would have won their game at 6-6......no way they should even be considered. Hell UCL had to get a waiver from the NCAA to play in a bowl game at 6-7 this year. But they do need to do something.

They The BCS does not want to inter fear with the NFL playoffs.
I don't see them going to a 6 team play off. Only Plus one,

![]() NEW ORLEANS -- College football leaders, including Big Ten commissioner and staunch playoff opponent Jim Delany, are open to considering the idea of turning the Bowl Championship Series into a four-team playoff. The commissioners from the 11 FBS conferences met Tuesday at a hotel in New Orleans to exchange ideas about what the system for crowning a national champion will be starting in the 2014 season. BCS Executive Director Bill Han**** said 50 to 60 possibilities for various changes were presented. He said the process will be deliberate, and he expects it will take between five and seven meetings before July 4 to come to a decision. "They have a lot of cans to kick down the road," Han**** said. "This will not play well on Twitter." Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott said ideas were neither ranked nor ruled out. "I think people realize there are flaws in the current system and people are ready to think creatively about ways to improve it," he said. One of the ideas is a four-team playoff called a plus-one model that would create two national semifinals and a championship game played a week later. The idea was proposed in 2008 by Southeastern Conference Commissioner Mike Slive and supported by the Atlantic Coast Conference's John Swofford, but it was emphatically shot down by the leaders of the Big Ten, Pac-10, Big East, Big 12 and Notre Dame. This time, there will be a serious discussion about the plus-one. "Four years ago, five of us didn't want to have the conversation," Delany told reporters. "Now we all want to have the conversation." In the past, playoff discussions have been a non-starter for Delany. The Big Ten, along with the Pac-12, have a long-standing and lucrative relationship with the Rose Bowl and have been cautious about damaging the game's value. Delany has said that he is against even a four-team playoff because he fears it will inevitably grow. On Tuesday, though, he at least said he'd listen. Scott, who wasn't in the job back in 2008 and was the force behind the recent Pac-12 expansion, said he was encouraged by his first formal meeting about the future of the BCS. "Today was more a philosophical conversation about the extent to which people are open for change. I was very pleased. People are open-minded," he said. "But we didn't officially rule out ideas or rank ideas." The current BCS format has four marquee bowl games and a championship game matching the top two teams at the end of the regular season by a combination of polls and computer rankings. Alabama beat LSU 21-0 in Monday night's BCS championship game at the Superdome. As with many years, many people thought another team should have had a chance to play for the title. This year that was Oklahoma State (12-1).A new BCS format must be in place before the fall when television negotiations with ESPN open. The BCS is in the middle of a four-year deal with ESPN that runs through the 2014 season. Copyright 2012 by The Associated Press |

I guess if the Big 12 Commissioner wouldn't have voted down the playoff years ago then they may have had a chance to play.
Isn't it ironic that the SEC Commish proposed a playoff in 2008 after the SEC had already won the 2006 and 2007 BCS NCG..... who knew the SEC would win 4 more in a row.

As for Denard, well he'll have a whole year under is belt in the new system and another offseason to polish it up, plus Toussaint emerged as the premier back. We lose our Rimington award winning center, our RT, TE, and best WR. We should be ok on the line and we have some other guys to plug in. RRod's recruiting left us very thin in some areas but that's being rectified with Hoke's excellent recruiting. It'll take a few years to get his guys fully established though. It should be a great game and I'll be there to see it go down. As for a playoff, I don't see them doing anything more elaborate than a 1v4, 2v3, +1 style playoff, which is fine with me. Yes the #5 team will complain but honestly, how many times has the #5 team ever had a legitimate gripe about not getting a shot under our current system? Never. It's the #3 guy almost all the time, and a +1 will take care of them plus a #4. Anyways, looking forward to next fall!

When are they gonna just tell Notre Dame to go F themselves. Why the hell do they need Notre Dames approval for ANYTHING? Just do it. Notre Dame can comply or GTFO................. Quote:
![]() I'd prefer an NFL conference style playoff. 6 teams, top two get a bye week. Seed them accordingly and get it on. It would take 3 weeks and make an ocean full of money. You'd get a TON of fringe fans to watch. OMFG...................... It would work so perfectly. I believe that the Rose Bowl is one of the biggest hold-ups. |

All I know is, that was one boring game. Field goals are not entertaining. Period.
But hey, that kid made up for his mistakes in the regular season showdown. So, there's that...

Yeah the Rose Bowl is a big hang up and I know why...you ever been to that stadium? It is a nightmare....hard to get too, plus the exit and entering the stadium is so bad......
