I just thought of something though ... a new Monte Carlo might have a better business case than a Chevelle. Take the long wheel base version of the Alpha platform to be used on the CTS, then give the car an interior volume similar to the ATS. Coupe only body style, with a very long hood. Will it be a niche vehicle? Absolutely. But so would a Chevelle. But the Monte Carlo would at least be much more differentiated from everything else in the Chevy lineup. It probably has much more recognition in the market today too. It could also lead to a Buick Rivera, which would give the brand a halo car with no obvious competition from Cadillac

This makes sense and I would now venture a guess that it would be Monte Carlo as well over a Chevelle.. I also would love for the bold to be true.. Buick has been missing a rwd sports car for far too long. (and yes I'm going to say it, I love Buick.)

On the Cadillac ATS, I love it so far.. especially from what I seen in the live feed. Looks like it will give the 3 series more than a little trouble. That under 3400lb's curb weight is even better news, especially if it's to underpin the next gen Camaro. Makes me think of, and waiting anxiously for, what else is to come from GM.

Edit: Yea i just read it on GMI, i just don't see any info on its specs. Probably something similar to the upcoming Colorado's diesel?

Well, its a safe bet that they'll use it in Europe. And they are bringing over a little diesel for the Cruze in North America ... so there is a chance that we'll have a diesel option here too.
