Avalanche LTZ or Sierra Denali for DD
I'm looking to trade in my Silverado Extended cab that I use for my DD. I need more room in the back with 2 kids so I want to go to a Crew Cab and also add on pretty much all the bells and whistles so I don't miss my Camaro as much this winter.
I have looked around, done some test drives and the two finalists are a '12 Chevy Avalanche LTZ or the '12 Sierra Denali. I have test driven both and could practically flip a coin between them. I also surpisingly like the White Diamond Tri-coat color offered on both rides, normally I hate white. I haven't found an Avalanche LTZ locally in that color, but I know it is around. Of course, the deal breaker could be just how much I get hammered trading in a 2011 Silverado. I know I'm under water but, but afraid to find out just how much. I'm going back to both dealers I'm working with to see what they offer on the trade. It's MSRP was around 37k, I paid around 32... now worth hopefully 28???? Anyone with either of the two rides want to help sway me? Or just tell me I'm an idiot for trading in a Truck that I have had less than a year (which would be siding with the wife). All opinions are welcome.

i say pay off the 2011... getting out of debt should be priority #1 and it's the best example you can give your kids

At a minimum, I will be paying out the negative equity this time around and not rolling it into a new loan. From there, I may "give up" the extra $2000 rebate and take the 0% over 72 months or just lease it since I tend to go through cars fairly quickly! The Camaro is already paid off so I'm not too worried about debt, although I would hate to sell the car in a pinch, but that is the emergency plan.

Ypur 11 is prob worth 28000 retail, so 25 or so on a trade. There may be some more room in that since you are looking at 50,000 trucks. As far as either choice, get the Denali. Hands down.
If you rolled negative equity into the 2011, then you need to keep it. Have to ask, why didn't you get a crew cab in the first place if you just got a 2011 Silverado? |

I ended up pulling the trigger on the Avalanche... Loaded LTZ, White Diamond Tricoat. I never thought I would own / like a white car, but that paint sure does look good in the sun!
Came really close to getting the Denali, but the MSRPs where almost identical and the final offers were with-in $400 of each other in the Avalanche's favor. It also gave me more for what I will use it for being a family ride. I'll post some pics soon...
