I can't believe how many of the people here are admitting to being the dicks who either key other peoples cars, don't care if other peoples cars get keyed or are the ones who park super close just to be a dick. I park in the back and often take 2 spaces. Get up off my nuts and don't key my shit and don't park close to me. I'm not gonna be in the store long... trust me... I don't trust anyone... so I hope I catch you messing with my car. Chill out. If its in the back and there are tons of spaces... let me have a little of that space. My doors are huge and I care about my car. 95% of the cars in the lot are utility cars. Mines a piece of art. It shouldn't be mixed in with your immigrant transporter. I'm in SF. I see cameras in the lots all the time. If someone messes with my car at least it will often be on Camera. Flame away. I can't believe you guys are the ones that this thread is talking about being worried about. Although its not that shocking. I see all these Camaro's out on the road. No nod. Nothing. I know I know... It's not a Corvette or a Harley right? It's also not a Civic. Cheer up and throw a nod. I got respect for your silver Camaro... I know you're seeing my Aqua Blue. Cheer up a little. You're in a sick ass car.

Oh and BTW... some mother lover bashed my windshield one night. Wasn't in a lot. Wasn't parked in 2 spaces. Just on the street not bothering anyone. So I got plenty of reason for concern. I'll take the extra space and dare you to do something about it.

Usually I try to park in the back and walk the extra little distance. Its a double wammy, you get more exercise PLUS your Camaro is generally safe . I do get those occasional times where a few cars are next to me, but most of the time its another newer/just as expensive vehicle, and they are usually 1 space away.

I try the best I can to prevent door dings, but you can only do so much. There are way too many careless and wreckless people out there, that do not take care of what they own. I know all of us do, but IMO Im not going to be the dick and take up two spots.

What I hate the most, is when you park next to an island or curb, which leaves only one spot next to you. AND FOR SOME REASON that person thinks that just because I hugged the far end of the spot, means he can get closer to my spot and even on the line sometimes! GRRR

  • Shop at off peak hours (shop @ 24 supermarkets)
  • Wait in car a few moments... (caught a few a**holes circling the car this way)
  • When forced to park near other cars, jot down their license plate, approximate year, make, model and color of neighboring vehicles.
  • Have a game plan when shopping... rush in, rush out.
  • Observe other shoppers and vehicles... find a single occupant vehicle that may be parked longer than you to park next to
  • Back in if you have a vanity plate
  • When parking in grass lots directed by event staff; open doors before the next vehicle is guided to park next to you

While I wouldn't do all of this, I think this is the best advice in this thread.

Seen this today right in front of a medical office as You can see there is a handicap spot to the left . There is plenty of parking further away I blurred the pic a little it to conceal this persons identity .

The problem in general is this: IF you do ANYTHING that will bring unwanted attention (starting front and center by even driving a new Camaro), You ALREADY have to be careful even if you park PERFECTLY within the lines of any parking space.

Society in general DOES NOT IDENTIFY with people who are materialistic. It does not matter where you live. Like someone else said KIDS/YOUNG people are hyped up looking for a reason to lash out. There is no getting around that.

If you have something nice, and it draws attention, plan to expect surprises, unless you only drive your car on weekends, or park it where you can monitor it while you are not inside it.

The new Camaro is a VERY OVER-THE-TOP vehicle. ITS NOT A NORMAL CAR. It's not. Too many people view this car as a STATUS symbol/sex symbol type of car. That car only APPEALS to a specific crowd. Everyone else might view you as having an inferiority complex, and they will take PLEASURE in making your ailment way worse.

I wouldn't leave this car anywhere except at home if I was making car payments on it. There are way too many beavis's and buttheads walking around who hate successful people.

I always try to find and end spot, and hug the shit out of that curb. Why increase your odds of something happening to your car by taking up 2 spots?
