So I got my 1st Camaro ticket.

Got pulled over today by the Florida mall. The cop said he noticed I changed my DRL lights (I have AAC plasmas in) and that Florida law does not permit that (pretty much read me the FL law), he also said I’m not allowed to have tinted taillights. Both of which I knew.

He gave me a warning for the DRL’s but a $114 ticket for the taillights. Oh well, I am not taking the tint off as it looks too good, so there goes $114!

Anyway the cop and I argued a bit back and forth about the DRL’s, not heated, just disagreeing about the use during the day. Then he said: the problem is you’ll run them at night and that’s illegal, from there here is how the conversation went:

Me: Actually the DRL’s will not run at night (well mind do if I want but he does not have to know that), they go off with the HID’s
Officer: No they don’t you have to shut them off
Me: No, they automatically shut off with the HID’s
Officer: No they don’t! I “have” a 2010 and I have to turn them on and off, you have a switch for it
Me: You only have a switch if you have a non RS, do you have an RS? Look, does my switch look like yours?
Officer: Yes
Me: We’ll I am not looking to argue with you but I am right, the DRL’s do NOT run with the HID’s. At this point my wife is getting annoyed with my tone (but I was right).
Officer goes back to his car; wife continues to beat me up a bit, LOL.
Officer (returns): I’m going to give you a warning for the DRL (But a ticket for the taillights). Also, turns out you are right about the DRL’s!! I texted the guy “I sold” my Camaro to, turns out I did not have an RS, I had a 1LT.
Me: In my head I’m thinking WTF? Did he really not know what kind of Camaro he had, or did he lie he had a Camaro, or maybe a family member owns on? Either way I was laughing in my head (as he lied in some capacity) and could not wait to say “told you so” to my wife.
Me: See I told you, I as not trying to be sarcastic but I know my car (and these Camaro’s in general) and just had to prove my point.
Officer: We’ll you did but they still cannot be aftermarket.
Me: I’ll make sure they are off.

From there I thanked him and wished him a Happy New Year!

I am not upset at all that I got pulled over and got a ticket (I knew it would happen at some point and will again for some of the mods on the car), you play you pay! The officer was only doing his job, but the whole DRL thing really made me crack up, if fact I still am having a good laugh about it.

If you hadn't "argued" or had to prove a point, you might have gotten out of both! Best thing is Yes Sir / No Sir and I didn't know that....

Funny how he knew you'd run the DRL's at night............he could of given ya a booklet full of other crystal ball citations in advance for things "He knew, You'd do" if that reasoning were acceptable in a court of law................... in as much, you may have gotten off with two warning tickets if you would have reflected first on the old school yard rules " Of being so right, you may end up paying for it anyways" were'nt obviously true........Its nice though seeing you enjoy a good laugh........I'm not sure it was worth the $114 black eye on your record or the reduced weight on the hip cheek.

I'm pretty certain I was getting a ticket wither way from the way he approached the car and his attitude. Had it been a moving violation my attitude may have been somewhat different.

Again I could care less about the ticket, I posted more as I thought the story was funny.

There really is no black eye, it's a cosmetic ticket, hip is a bit lighter though!

Wait....so you can't change your DRLS bulb?

I'm confused as to what about your DRLS you can't change?

Becasue I have the AAC plasma's in, so they have a slight tint of blue.

I'm getting a good laugh too out of the clarivoyant nature of things in NY. The cop'er knew you'd run the DRL's and you knew, he'd be scribing on parchment no matter.

Well I can tell ya for one, I can't ever see myself traveling there .........for I'd surely get tossed in the slammer with my argumentive nature...................Damm...Now I'm having premonition's.........soon I'll be afraid to drive, at all, anywhere......lol

Funny to me as well that people don't know what car they have. But I've run into that more than once. Recently, I was in a restaurant and someone came in after me and said, "Nice Camaro - I have one like it". I said, "Oh, you have an SS too!" and he said, "No, I have the RS".

There are a TON of people that think that "RS" is a specific model of the Camaro.

That's alright man I just got my first ticket too but it was for a legitimate offense....15 mph over the posted speed limit. I was passing a slow moving 18 wheeler on I-10 heading to el paso on Monday and I sped up to make the pass because I didn't realize my next exit for gas and restroom was coming up so soon. As soon as I was just in front of the truck I saw the black and white state trooper on the other side of the highway slam his brakes and pull to the median and come after me. At that point I said some choice words and pulled into the slow lane and proceeded to my intended exit. He flipped the lights on as soon as he saw I was taking the exit. I pulled into the gas station and I got the whole shakedown. I told him I needed gas and to pee for the past 45 miles and he could check my gauge to see I needed fuel. He just said to me do you know how many times I hear that? I was like ok but as soon as we are done I'm putting fuel in my car and relieving myself. He chuckled a bit and went back to his car. Comes back out and goes I am giving you a citation for 95 in an 80. I sigh the paperwork and am about to continue on my way and he say before you go if I were to check your vehicle would I find anything illegal? I was like no I have no business having anything illegal. So he says so I wouldn't find large sums of cash? Marijuana? Meth? Cocaine? I can't remember what other drugs he listed. All was a no of course. I was shocked that he did that after he had me sign the paperwork instead of when he first pulled me over. I can do defensive driving and have the ticket dismissed but I still have to pay. It sucks because I was only speeding to pass because the exit was coming up and I would have missed the exit if I had to slow down to let the truck pass me. Damn damn damn. That is my first ticket in this car....oops

Heck! I've had several excitable lovers of all things wrapped in a Bowtie offer...............Man I love that thing, had one just like it in high school ( 1966-1997)..,,,,,,,,.same color and stripe combo work. Then they ask what year mine is.......1969 or 1970, and whether its a SS or not...............obviously the deck lid and front grill have SS badges, the nose to tail stripe colors are custom one off's and theres nary a chrome bumper to be found...............figure
