Ok.... I think I posted a while back about the employee that I have that hasn't worked since march 29th or something... well coinicidentally they also rent an apartment from me.

Ok well they have been "SICK" and keep bringing in notes but I see them doing stuff that makes me think "well if you are sick then why are you out here carrying stuff around and climbing across a fence walking through a field" I have not said this to them because I dont want any more problems than I already have. Well they had not paid me rent for this month. Their husband was supposed to pay me last friday and never did. THen said monday. Well no pay.

Back story that should not be related but it is---- Last sept. I needed some work done to my building. Her husband is a carpenter and was out of work and told me they would not have the rent on time... i said well I have some work that needs to be done would you be willing to do it and I will just take that off of the rent. They were happy that I was willing to work with them. So I tell him to tell me what I need to get to do the job. Tells me the stuff to get and says you dont have to worry about getting this other stuff because I have it left over from another job and it didn't cost me anything so i wont charge you anything for it. I say ok sounds ok to me. So I get the stuff and the day he was supposed to do it he didn't start. it ended up being about two weeks later said he was sick. ok well finally he starts on it and its taking alot longer than it should. I mean it was only replacing an overhang that was maybe a foot wide by 60 foot. He would work at a very slow pace stopping to talk to people that he knew coming into the store. Well I did not keep track of how many hours it was taking him to do it and time for the rent had come and gone so I ask well how much do I owe you for it so far. he said he had 21 hours on it (my jaw about dropped) and it would be 15 dollars an hour. so that turned out to be 315 dollars. still would owe me $110 He wasn't finished I would say he still had about 20% more to finish it up. He asked if it would be ok to call it even to finish it up. I said ok but lets try to get this done ASAP. He said he would finish it the next day. Well he let it sit unfinished since sept or oct until sunday then he gets out there to finish it.

I am standing out on the porch this eve watching traffic go by. And she pulls around the corner of a building in her explorer (from what she told me she isn't supposed to be driving) and I motion for her to pull up. She pulls up and I ask how she is feeling. She said Im still sick I ask again whats wrong and she said it was her back and now her arm. And I ask if the date on the note was right because that seems a lil long to me for a doctors note. and said yes and that she was going back to the doc again the end of this month... I said well... your husband said that he was goin to pay me the rent on friday and he said he didn't get paid and would pay me on monday... which he didn't... she said he told her that the work that he finished would take care of the rent. I said no he has already been paid for that....... she said that isn't what he told her and that she would tell him to come down and talk to me when she got back....

(thought I would break it up a bit so I can finish the rest)

Her husband comes in this eve. first words out of his mouth are "you must be F'n Crazy" I said what?? What do you mean by that. You are the one that said that you would finish the work for the rest of the rent last sept. and now because you owe me rent you think im going to let it go for that hour of work you did? I said no way.... he says Well you mother F'r You expect me to do all that work for nothing it took me 5 days to do that.... Which I am really ticked off by the way he comes in the door... I said well if it really took you that long to do it then its no wonder why you are out of a job because I would hate to see how long it would take you to frame a house (I also did some framing and with 3 of us we could get the foundation layed off and first floor deck and walls up in a day.) And then he said that he had to buy the material and I said no you told me it was left over from another job that they gave you. Oh no I didn't say that I had to pay for it. Ok whatever.... Finally he leaves................... I am considerably ticked off. Which is one reason I haven't posted much this eve if anyone noticed...

Well I hired someone else last week and they are going to work 3 mornings for me. I knew that she had the other key so I call her and tell her I need the key back.... She comes down throws the key in my hand and says "i hope your F'n happy" I said what? What is that supposed to mean? she says " i didn't think you were likethat.... You dont care that Im sick and all you care about is yourself and this store.... I said uh yea I have to keep the store running I dont see how you think I dont care or should care that you are sick. I have not fired you yet ( I checked around and I can fire them i am not big enough to have to worry about the FMLA) i have worked open to close not hiring anyone waiting for you to come back. You dont tell me anything about whats going on.... You owe me rent and I haven't started the eviction process. I have given you advances on your checks... I have let you charge stuff till you get your check.. I have let you go past the due date on your rent without charging you a late fee or harrassing you about it. I have let you tell me when you want to work... You asked for more hours I gave them to you... I make the schedule around to what you want... I have let you take off days you should have worked regardless if it is going to make me have to work All day or not.. And then I have to hear my wife fuss at me because I am not around.

THen she walks off......................

So what do you guys think about it?

Not to mention the fact that I am not going to be able to go to Hendrick to see the camaros there on May 2nd... Man I was dying to see one..... I dont know what it is just seems like everything I try to do or want to do never works out. :(

Stand your ground cam2fst4u... I know it's tough. If I read what your saying correctly, then I totally agree with you. You havn't even started the eviction process yet, and you are yet to fire them. Sounds like you have been very patient so far. Thats BS that they would talk to you like that. I'm going to read it again, just to get a complete understanding of what is going on. sorry, trying to watch house at the same time

Ok, this will be one of those situations I think about for days and I'm not even a part of it. There are sooooooo many red flags going up when I'm reading this that I'm very very concerned. I hate to tell you this but you need a lawyer like yesterday. If nothing else arm yourself with information and stop, I mean, STOP confronting them emotionally.

Deep breath... wow. These people are going to be trouble at the very least and could potentially, well, I can't even bring myself to speculate

Do they live over the store? are there other tenants?
