I think they need to make the Chally smaller, on it's own platform, and have two versions of the Charger, and forget the Dart, and the Avenger.

That makes absolutely NO business sense for a mainstream car manufacturer. They HAVE to have the compact dart and Midsize Avenger sedans as volume sellers. As for a totally different platform just for the Challenger, maybe if you want one that starts at 60k. It is not as if the Camaro is not a bloated beast riding on a sedan (G8/Caprice/etc) platform, BECAUSE IT IS! The basics of the Mustang are too believe it or not, the platform from the Lincold LS/Jag S Type, just modified and sans the IRS. Making an entire platform for scratch is just not possible AND it would take years to develop. I think it will happen as they could share it between Chrysler, Dodge, Alfa, etc now, but it will take time. A Charger coupe makes absolutely no sense. WHy would they need 2 low volume large coupes???? Kind of how we will not see another CHevelle, or Torino, the market no longer supports coupes the way it used to.

I understand where you are coming from, and the truth to all of it, but I just wanted so say my dreams..lol. I don't think there is anything wrong with the Challenger how it is, just that the should have stuck closer to the size of the original, I mean, even parking a Camaro next to a Mustang makes the Mustang look small, the Camaro grew, so did the Chally and the Mustang some. Things change, I know, but I still have dreams. haha.

Did you that the Camaro and mustang are some 1 foot plus longer than the orgigionals, there is only around a 6 inch length difference between the current Challanger?

well then they need to make a retro charger coupe on the challenger platform and find a way to convert the avenger chassis to rwd and find out how to make a challenger out of that. Nobody here said the challenger needs to be a new platform from the ground up.

sounds exactly like the mustang crowd. swearing the coyote makes 450-470hp in spite of SAE certification. its a dream world. dynos are about as exact as a nuclear bomb, UNLESS its a fanboi's car, then they are all exact......when the numbers are high that is.

once again, that seems like an average dyno. and sounds like 470hp.

let me guess..... next you going to tell me that my LS1 ws6 only makes 320 bhp... Oh wait it made 313 rwhp bone stock, or the terminator only makes 390 bhp..... Oh, not a "fanboi" just been racing for 23 years.....

well. i'm not here to dispute anything per se....BUT

With Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) certified ratings of 470 horsepower (351 kW) and 470 (637 N•m) lb.-ft. of torque for the Dodge Challenger SRT8®, Dodge Charger SRT8® and Chrysler 300 SRT8®, there’s no question the newest HEMI V-8 from the Chrysler Group is potent.

Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8® applications carry a rating of 470 horsepower (351 kW) and 465 (630 N•m) lb.-ft. of torque .

http://www.media.chrysler.com/newsre...=11117&mid=193

your argument is invalid. comparing earlier ratings to the new SAE 1 percent, independent verified ratings is wrong.

please read about the SAE j1349.

http://www.sae.org/certifiedpower/details.htm

please read and undestand they are written in stone.

ive been racing for decades, and it has nothing to do with SAE ratings. the hemi makes 470hp. maybe you can look up that actual dyno. it might be as high as 475 by SAE rules.
