You realize that is a picture of Dubai right? Didn't know pictures of planes and buildings was a slap in the face of 9/11.

I asked for thoughts. I didn't say what *I* think it looks like. But I think it was a real marketing moron who let this slide through thinking people wouldn't pitch a fit and talk about 9/11 when they saw it. Anything dealing with an image of tall buildings and planes gets people going nuts. Why put the planes on there? Why not just the buildings? Someone was just asking for it with this one.

I personally don't think it looks like New York at all. But thanks for assuming I do!

I won't pretend to know exactly how Pepsi's business operates, but I imagine the can's design was created by a local marketing contractor and approved by a regional sales manager. The folks in Dubai are probably not as sensitive to seeing a plane near a skyscraper as Americans are, so they probably didn't make the connection.

Chalk this one up to an, "oh sh!t, my bad," moment and move on. The United Arab Emirates hold an incredible amount of wealth and is one of the rare pro-American governments in the middle east. I highly doubt they would intentionally want to insult Americans in this way.
