Oh, my mistake. Awesome video. I was just having fun with the unofficial vs official stuff. I had no doubt the time was accurate when GM stated that was the time.

What is BMW and Porsche's largest market?

The GT500 ran a 0:00. Why not just accept that the ZL1 set a very strong time and that Ford doesn't plan to do a run or publish the results unless it can top it?

Anyway, the side effect of those "laps and adjustments" you seem to be knocking is a better handling car for the end buyer, which is a worthy goal no matter what the final time was.
I agree with everything, but the bold. Seems a little impatient. Ford JUST released the basic specs of the '13 GT500. They haven't released 0-60 or 1/4 mile times and they have for the previous gt500s. It may be a little premature to say they're not going to lap the 'ring. They haven't released a lap time yet, but that doesn't mean they won't. It's not like Ford is in a rush to not lose sales, neither car is even in showrooms yet.

People that like refinement in cars, something you generally don't get with American Vehicles. As of late GM and Ford have started caring about more than just going in a straight line, the ZL1 and GT500 are prime examples. The ZR1 and CTS-V included.

If it was about straight lines, wouldn't we still have a solid rear axle?

What is every car manufacturer's largest market? Now, ask what segment of that market they target with their cars.

China is the world's largest car market. Buick sells more cars in China than the USA. What was your question?

Maybe, but I think it probably had more to do with the chassis the car was built on than any other reason. Please, don't let this thread degrade into another IRS versus SRA argument.

Garcmol was speaking of chassis development and refinement that an IRS brings to an automobile and he is spot on. If and when a Mustang runs a faster Ring time than the ZL1 we can have the IRS vs Three Link discussion.

I thought garcmol was just being sarcastic with the IOM's assumption that only recently has GM and Ford cared about anything other than straight line performance.

As of last year, I believe, they did become the largest. Too bad Buick no longer builds performance-oriented cars. I doubt the majority of Chinese buyers give a crap about the things being discussed in this ZL1/GT500 thread. I'm positive they didn't buy the Buick because of it's Nurburgring lap time.

Close, China took over in 2009. But I'm sure they are just happy being able to buy any car now ha ha.

Not at all. I was afraid someone would think that with my comment. And I definately don't want to stir the IRS vs SRA pot.
