Wink Animal Question

This is one for all you Dundees out there. How do ya' tell an allidile from a crocogator? It's sumpthin' 'bout the teeth, ain't it?

If ya' gotta' count 'em, how do ya' keep its mouth open? I susspose you could wedge it open by cramming in the mother-in-law... Ah, there's a cheery thought!

The easiest way to tell is the shape of the head. Fat wide head then it's a gator. Pointy head then a croc. U can tell by the teeth too. Just don't know how.

The best way is the head like he said above
Flat, wide, short = Gator
Pointy, skinny + croc
Croc jaws hinges from top
Gator has to stand up to open jaws, they open from bottom

either way stay away from the bussiness end of both. (teeth & tail)

I thought it was that with one, the teeth are still visible when the mouth is closed while with the other they are completely concealed, but I don't remember which is which.

We had a 'gator that lived in the lake in my condo complex in Florida. It was a young male, no more than four feet long. People fed it.

Crocodiles can't see if something is inside their mouth, but rather wait to chop down until the animal (or your head) touches something inside there mouth - like their tongue or a tooth. So as long as you don't touch anything you're good.

I would like to see you in a video testing this theory.

Its happened a few times where one comes into the parking lot. like the one inj the picture above, which is only about a 5 footers, the ones that venture close are the little ones......the BIG ones are in the ponds and lake on the property......there is at least one that is documented at 13'.

For some animals, it is a question they happily answer. And as for the grumpier creatures, well, they can make their own jokes.
