Didn't GM say quite a while ago that it was going to be 4 cylinder only, with a turbocharged engine filling the role of the current V6?

Regardless ... don't expect this to be any sort of hot rod. If they wanted it to be fast, they would have just used the LFX V6. But since buyers in this segment generally don't care all that much for power or performance. Often people buy the V6 midsizer only because it comes as part of the highest trim package. Because of that, they may as well stick in a turbo4 and reduce the weight & cost associated with using more than 1 engine family under the hood.
