This is true. Try to eat 6 times a day, 3 hours at a clip instead of the basic 3 square meals. This optimizes your metabolism throughout the day, just eat smaller meals each time.

I got to my size and weight by eating right mostly, that is more important that the weight training.

Probably not as hard as you think. Most protein bars are balanced correctly from calories, carbs, protein and fat.

I try to limit myself nowadays to somewhere between 125-150 reps per muscle group. I don't so much lift super high weight like I used but with more control. I get much better results than uncontrolled power lifting that I used to do.
