Okay, the guy who changed the body part is faking it on a grander scale. Does that make you feel better?

Like I said, both the guy faking it with a badge and the guy faking it with body panels use the same argument. "It's my car blah blah". "Why should you care blah blah". "Me likes it that way blah blah".

Sure thing - and me thinks he'd be a fraud.
No they're not the same. They guy who puts a body part on a car doesn't badge it as something it's not. The guy who puts badges on his car is labeling it incorrectly.

I put a WS6 hood on my TA because it was cheaper than replacing the stock hood and it looks better, but I do not badge it as, nor do I tell anybody my car is a WS6. It's faster.

Putting badges from other brands like the civic is completly ridiculous and makes the owner look like a moron.
but you see, that's the same argument from the guy with the fake badge: "I don't see anything wrong with..."

and he's right. There's nothing "wrong" with it, except that you think that he's faking it by putting the wrong badge on it, and I think people who put on the body panels of a different car is also faking it. It's all to do with tolerance level - but I'm taking things to their natural conclusion.

You can't use the argument that the guy with the fake badges is faking it, but the one with the body panels of a higher model is not faking it - that's logically inconsistent. I'm logically consistent - to me they're all fake.

If you want to mod your car aesthetically, do what the bazillion legit businesses at SEMA do: buy/build a custom kit. Nothing wrong with that by anyone's book. No-one is then faking it - you'd be buying a "Galpin body kit" blah blah, and not "fooling people that your V6 is an SS".

Sorry but youre out of your mind if you think putting an SS bumper on a V6 is even near putting incorrect badges on. Its now even the same league, hell not even the same sport!

There is nothing special about the SS bumper that makes it perform differently. As long as there are no SS badges when placed on a V6 then theres no problem at all. Enthusiasts will spot the difference quick and thats what matters.

What I do have a problem with is people putting the ZL1 bumper on because that bumper has a specific design that actually does something for the ZL1.

But as long as a body mod is purely for aesthetics and isnt trying to pose as another car then theres no problem.

using your silly logic then you must get upset if people put Brembos on the V6 and I KNOW you arent that ridiculous...right?

Judging by the size of the exhaust pipe on that Civic it must be putting out some serious HP.

You just affirmed what I just said. You think that faking it 70% is "faking it", I think that even 10% faking it is still "faking it". As long as it is above 0, it's faking it.

And no, getting Brembos is not faking it because there is a functional purpose. There's no functional purpose to getting an SS bumper, except to look like an SS. More people will recognize the V6 as an SS by changing to as SS bumper as opposed to putting a near invisable "SS" logo on the backside; therefore more people are fooled - therefore it's faking it. In fact by that logic, changing to an SS bumper is more deceptive than the SS logo, because more people are fooled.

When people say "I'm getting the SS bumper because it looks better", they are really saying "I want my car to look like the SS, because the SS is better". And the SS looks better because it is the better car. Aesthetically speaking the V6 bumper looks better because it doesn't have the redonkulous mailslot - but people want the mailslot because it's the mark of the better car: the SS. Heck - even the ZL1 doesn't have the mailslot. The mailslot has NO aesthetic benefit except that it is an identifier of the SS model, whose sole aesthetic value is one that differentiates the SS from the V6. I bet anyone that if it was the V6 that had the mailslot (and not the SS), the SAME amount of people changing to the SS bumper right now will choose the non-mail-slot bumper.

How many SS owners swap out their bumper to the V6 model? NONE. That proves that I'm right. People ALWAYS change to the higher model, not the other way round. The whole "I just want to make it look better" is really "I just want to make it look like the higher model because the higher model is better".
