Not trying to start anything but...

I don't understand why people are so against taking up 2 spots way in the back of a parking lot.

It seems like the common reasoning is that you do not need to take up 2 spots when your car is parked way out in the back of the lot because no one else is likely going to park there anyways. Then if that is the case who is going to be there to even notice how you parked and key your car?

More importantly, I have never heard of or experienced an instance where people were so infuriated about how other people parked that they felt the need to inflict damage on a car. Sure, if you park up front or in a frequently used area of the parking lot and you take up more than 1 spot then I can definitely imagine people getting upset. However, if you park in the back of a lot where there is usually only 1 or 2 other cars total, then I'm fairly confident that no one will care or even notice how many spots you take up.

Basically what I'm trying to say is that I believe WHERE you park your car is much more important than HOW you park your car.

You wouldn't believe how some people find your car and park right next to it.

Parking far, far away makes it obvious why you are doing it and most would respect that.

Taking up two spaces makes people think that you are a dick about it, no matter how far you are in the nosebleed section.

My biggest fear is someone going out of their way to intentionally damage my ride. Why increase the odds?

The funny thing in life is that people actually think that taking 2 "spots" is going to stop someone else from parking next to them with enough distance to still get whacked with a door. I mean seriously you don't need parking lines to tell a person how to park. Go to an event where the parking is in a field and there are no lines? go complain about someone taking two parking spaces then.....it is just stupid. I do park centered in a space but I just think it is funny how people get bent out of shape when two precious spaces are taken up.

We have camaros, not ferraris.

Get over yourselves.

I bet you get upset when you see a toyota or a nissan taking up two spots... even if they do cost more than your car.

well, i live in the city. it's hard to find parking spots in general in the city. when 1 car takes up two spaces, they are disrespectful to other people that need a parking space. IMO that's selfish and extremely rude.

honestly i don't want people's cars to get keyed, but this is one of those instances where they need to learn a lesson. IMO they should be ticketed as parked illegally. if i see a jackass take up two parking spots and there car was keyed, i really don't care that much. they were asking for it.

FYI, i don't know a percentage, but i bet a relatively small amount of drivers on the road want to ding another car, so taking up two spaces might pose more of a keying risk than taking up one space does to posing a door ding risk.

Kids man. I'm a grown man now, but when I was a stupid teenager we would key cars that were parked taking up more than one spot just because we knew the owner cared and would be super pissed.

I know it's not cool and I regret being that little shit kid.

here is an idea for those so "sensitive" about their precious Camaros. Buy a flatbed truck, put your car on it, hire someone to drive the truck while you sit in the Camaro. Park the truck anywhere you like and take as many spots you like. Your car will be safe from those idiots who can't keep their car from parking next to yours.

I didn't even have an expensive vehicle (2007 Honda CRV) and it got keyed from the front to the taillight. And they repeatedly hit my door with thier door edge on purpose. I like to keep my distance from full parking lots.

Yep, I'm only worried about a$$holes who will key my car or mess with it on purpose.

I know what you mean, and I hate it. I have this old a$$ Infiniti G20 that keeps parking next to me in my dorm parking lot. I use the overflow lot that doesn't ever fill up so I can park my car by itself, and this guy keeps parking right next to me.
In all honesty though, he probably just admires my ride. And I should appreciate a guy like him parking next to me rather than a d!ckbag in a lifted truck or a clumsy sorority girl parking next to me.

What is the need to take 2 spaces if you are far far away in the back of the lot? Just use one regular spot, no one else is around anyway, right?

It's just plain disrespectful and arrogant to take two spaces wherever you park, whatever car you drive.......just draws attention to your car and opens you up for shenanigans.

The malls in Philly will give you a 90$ ticket if you take up 2 spots

The problem with today's world is that people are too busy worrying about what other people do and how they do it when they should be paying more attention to what they do. I park far back in the parking lot and sometimes take up two spaces depending on the amount of parking available. I do this to keep people that dont pay attention from opening up their car doors and placing a nasty ding in mine. I dont do it to be a jerk. I do it to keep something pricey from happening to my car that I work very hard to take care of.

I dont design the tight parking spaces or lack there of. I do take the risk of parking where I do sometimes, but if I ever catch someone keying my car they will get what they deserve right there on the spot. For those of you who do think people are jerks for taking up two spots way in the back of the parking lot, worry about yourselves and move on because it isnt harming you.

If you worked really hard to take care of something and someone just threw their door open on your car causing damage, you will then understand. Those of you driving 1932 push and go's, I guess you wouldnt understand.

There has been multiple times that I park in the back of a parking lot without anyone near me, only to come out to a car thats parked right next to mine. It amazes me that people choose to park directly next to me when I obviously went out of my way to park away from people. That's what really frustrates me.
