Well, I say if you two are happy with the people you have found in life and wanna be with (whether it's for life or a few years, etc) then who cares what others think? It's your life to do as you wish and put people in or take people out as you so wish. No one runs your own life but you, and no one else lives your life for you. Take what you have found and make the most out of it.

My sister doesn't like my hubby (I think she is either jealous that I have someone, or she wants him herself IDK) and she will talk so much trash to my face. I just tell her that "He is my husband and I love him for who he is. Say what you like because I'm the one that lives with him and sees who he really is at home. You can only judge on the bits and pieces you see. I took a vow to stand beside him no matter what and to forsake all others. That includes family so don't expect me to stand next to you when my place is next to him." Stand up for your relationships and if your friends can't be happy for you then they have some issues of their own.
