Just thought i'd check out everyone's thoughts on this since it may come to be a huge debate this year.

BCS gets the "Best" teams in the finals, but the basketball playoffs are great because you get some upsets that add a little dynamic to the game.

"best" is such a object-able word. football isn't quiet like basketball. generally the better team wins in college football. that's why there are always undefeated seasons.

I wouldn't mind seeing the season turn into more of a battle of attrition

As a fan of a couple Utah teams that got victimized by the BCS I think it's time to let the BCS fade to black.

Or that there are like 11 games compared to like 30. BCS kind of makes it fair. Take for instance Utah, who plays in the Pac10/12, compared to an LSU team that plays in the SEC. SEC has way better schools in terms of football than the Pac10/12 does, so the SEC schools can lose 1 game to a opponent and there goes their hopes for a BCS championship. Teams like Utah have an easier time of going undefeated and therefore they look better than they are. BCS looks like strength of schedule as one of its components in rankings. Its one of the reasons why I think Boise still shouldn't be playing for the BCS when they did those undefeated seasons. Sure they were good, but their opponents were also terrible.

Legal Disclaimer: From the one of the two guys who pays attention to college football. The above ramblings are in no way representative of the thoughts and views of Pfadt.
![]() Utah is now really in a much different position this year than it was while a member of the Mountain West, so in all honesty I guess my argument for Utah is moot since we found a way to play the political game and solve the problem ourselves. Take this into consideration. 2006 Utah team is one of only 3 teams in Division 1 to go undefeated including wins over Texas A&M and Arizona. Is ranked #6 overall which is high enough that the BCS can't even pass them over for a game and gives them #20 Pittsburg. What a joke. Utes roll over a clearly over matched Pitt team 35-7 in the Fiesta Bowl. 2008 season rolls around and Utah has another great team. Wins over #24 Michigan (on the road), #11 TCU and #14 BYU. Final ranking as #7 and pulls #4 Alabama in the Sugar bowl. Utah moves to a 31-17 win. Is there a single logical reason why the only team in Division 1 college football in 2009 to go undefeated after beating 4 ranked teams DOESN'T get to play for a national championship? That's sports, that's inequity, that's the BCS system. Overall the BCS does the best it can given a system that clearly wants to keep big money in the hands of big money... the only way you can get around it is to play by their rules, and that's what programs like Utah have had to do to survive. This Utah team clearly isn't what it was in '09 so I'm really just pining for the old days, but as long as the BCS is in place and not at least some semblance of a playoff system there will be injustice paid to teams not in the Good Ol' Boy system who really are great. |

TCU is a lot better than everyone gives them credit. However, I think that will not be proven until they get a fair shot at a BCS title game. I am not a fan of TCU but just wanted to throw the thought out there for fodder especially after they schooled Boise State once again on the field of BLUE.
