Got a new car! No Camaro yet, but a Chevy!

2011 Impala LT

We got an excellent deal on it. I went looking for a Malibu LS but getting $5000 rebate since it was a 2011 and being an LT was definitely worth it. And it's roomier than the Malibu which is great for our 2 kids.

It's definitely a grocery getter as my father-in-law says. It's not as sporty looking as other sedans but I don't really mind. The LT interior is much better than the LS and it has everything I wanted and then some. Bluetooth handsfree, steering wheel controls, remote start, oil life & tire pressure monitors, 17" aluminum wheels, and has a rear spoiler!

I'm glad to be out of the Hyundai Sonata. They are great cars for the price, but they drop in value like a rock. I know this Chevy will hold its value a lot better, being an LT model helps too.

After we get some bills paid off, we'll be able to start saving and hopefully get a Camaro within 18 months. We used what would have been our car payment as a down payment and the only expense is going to be registration which we just did in September so we'll get some credit back for that. And we had the extended warranty + GAP on our Hyundai which was through a separate company so we'll get some money back from that as well in about a month.

I had an 07 for a company car and then got an 09 Malibu and the Impala got better mileage with the v-6 and had more power. It was my favorite company car. I am riding an 11 Fusion now and I am sick, I would love to have another Impala, but the lease is cheaper on the Fusion.

As old and outdated as the W-body Impala is compared to the rest of the Chevrolet lineup, it's still a venerable and reliable workhorse. Congrats.

I know, I know! But dollar for dollar it's a much better car than the 2009 Sonata we had. I really wanted a Malibu since it has a more modern look to it, but we just couldn't pass up this deal. We'd only have gotten a base LS Malibu where as this is an LT Impala. I can live with the exterior. Like I said, we're hoping to get into a Camaro within 18 months or so. Gas MPG is just under what we got in the 4 cyl Sonata. And I only drive about 15 miles round trip to work, a full tank lasts us about 2 weeks.
