That is a lot of cars, but it doesnt look like it has anything to do with the actual engine, but rather where the oil can drip. Don't plan on getting a new engine lol. Maybe some type of guard etc. to keep the oil from dripping on the area that could cause a fire.

Funny story (Eh...not funny but coincidental...)
My cousins car just erupted into flames the other day while she was at work. '98 Grand Prix. Needless to say, that car is no more.

Whoa, I missed that by a few points of a liter! Awesome. My 3.1 liter is a good motor. Runs strong, and handle abuse extremely well. This is my second car with this motor and each one had the same problem, and I am 100% sure that they were both my fault. Or should I say my right foots fault.

They were doing so good......:(

Well...look on the bright side -- no accidents have been reported, yet still they're putting this out there....unlike some companies....

To be honest this is a recall that should have been done at least 4 years ago, we will see how the reputation holds up on the newer models.

wow that's a lot of car's being recalled back. but it is normal for the gaskets to start to leak the cars are a couple of years old so i think that's normal no big deal.

maybe...but since there's been no reported problems...I'm shocked there's a recall at all. How would they know?

Yea all 1996-2002 V6 Camaro's and Firebird's are effected too as they use the same L36 engine they GM is recalling.
