Do you realize how much money they would be wasting on "limited run cars" that don't share any architecture with their current vehicles? This is the very reason for 'Badge' engineering.

Take the basic platform, and mold it to fit each market segment. Not a whole new car for each segment. You have the concept, but the execution needs work.

Yea consolidate and streamline. Build what they can sell. It sucks that jobs will have to go but the stable base to rebuild and hire again is more important.

I would merge up all luxury into Cadillac and then move everything else into Chevrolet.

Then get rid off all the off brands.

Time for GM to die and Chevrolet to be reborn. Caddy can hold it's own as well.

I probably would move Corvette production to Oshuwa too. Sucks but business is business.

I didnt mean like a one year. Maybe something like 5yrs or 6. But only do one at a time. They could use existing platforms to make "the special runs" Don't they use current existing platforms for most concept cars?

And I forgot 1

1 small/mid-sized truck - no lux version

And by all means share R&D across the board.

Nothing wrong with startin with what works and go up from there.

Cadillac needs to go back to their roots. No trucks and no SUV's rebadged from other units.
I know that there are a lot of "name" fans for Buick,GMC,Pontiac, etc but GM has too many names.
Chrysler already played that game and is now down to 2 + Jeep. No more rebadge for them.
Come on Dodge Neon and Plymonth Neons being sold at the same time. That was a joke.

They do, but do you know how much money goes into developing that "special run" that has a "5 year sales span" that they'd then have to keep building stock parts for those that wreck the "special run" cars? The Camaro concept was built on a GTO chassis..for well over 1 million dollars.

And those name fans..where will they go for vehicles?

Ford
Toyota
Honda
Volkswagen
BMW

Vash, Davey; ..about slashing name brands for the sake of "the company." How was that supposed to help sales again?

Concept was built on a stretched Caddy chassis and it was a roughly 2-million dollar piece of eye-candy.....Bumblebee was built off a modified GTO...

They spend that money anyway and never produce the cars. Seems a waste. Could put that money to better use. Yes I know that the "diehards" would look elsewhere, but give the same quality and features that they are used to. I don't think no one would run to Ford because they couldn't get a car with a Pontiac front end. The key would be to assure the loyalist that all they are loosing is a name. But if GM doesn't do somthing, they could loose more.
