Driving a manual is like riding a bike. Eventually you won't even think about shifting because it gets natural over time.
I'm certain the 1999 Accord clutch is very forgiving compared to the SS clutch. You have to use the Camaro clutch with a bit more precision compared to the Accord.

i don't see what the throttle body actuation has to do with the transmission
![]() i'll admit, the camaro clutch was a little weird-feeling the first couple times i drove one, but it was easy to get used to.

i don't have any problem in my car & i've got considerably more 'lag' due to having to move air through another 2.3L blower

drove an A6 - went for the M6. I'm 40 and have worked a hard labor job all my adult life and was concerned about the physical aspects of an older guy like me having a stick for a DD.
I was also sick of owning cars that drove me. Mini-vans, Trucks, coupes, family sedans, SUV's - then I got a C5 Corvette ('02 Automatic). Even tho it was an Automatic - when you stuck your foot to the floor - you had better hold on and be ready for the power. After that - I vowed to enjoy driving cars while I'm still 'young', before nature forces me back into the mini-van life. Drove a C6 Corvette automatic. It was nice an all, but nothing like the C5 in the 'fun to drive' sense. It was like driving a cool Camry. Too quiet, too soft, yawn fest. Get a stick (m6) if you want to DRIVE THE CAR rather than the car DRIVING YOU. Yeah, at times (traffic lights) I wish I had an automatic for a minute - then I get going and I'm like "oh yeah... that's right... I made the right choice". Just be sure to do the GTO Reservior mod. (opinionated commentary there).

Stevo,
You WANT to have a manual. You have wanted it for some time. Now is your chance to finally get one. MANY people learn to drive manual and MANY people prefer it to an automatic for a performance car. You will get a lot of satisfaction from learning to drive a manual transmission. Just bite the bullet and DO IT!!! The worst that could happen is you decide that it just isn't for you and you trade it in for something with an automatic. Not the end of the world here. DO IT! ![]() -Mark. |

Ok well I will give you my views. I'm only 16 and learned to drive stick on a SS. I have a lot of trouble at first. If you feel the LS3 clutch it is almost like a spring. I Notice the engagement point is like right before the that point. It's tough to get used to but it's definitely more fun than an auto IMO.

Haha it's all about the feel. Give it a little gas and you should be good. Try to find the engagement point and go with it.

Yesterday taking my time in the parking lot to find that point over and over was not hard at all. On the street i felt rushed and that's why i stalled that one time. Once rolling 1-2, 2-3, 3-4, 4-5 was all easy. I'd have to get used to the down shifting better but I know that will differ on each car. One time I went down to 3rd to make a turn and I should of taken it down to 2nd.

Exact same thing happened with me. I used to do that a lot and felt rushed. But I tried to practice during times where I know there was little traffic. That helped me get more comfortable.

Living 20 minutes from Chicago its hard to find time that there is little traffic. Your traffic is probably my idea of little traffic lol.
I could always just head west or north 30 minutes and be out of a lot of traffic. |

Go for it. I bought the LS3 M6 after having an '00 Z28 A4 as a daily driver for 11 yrs. The A4 just wasn't as much fun. The only time I don't like M6 is when I go to Houston (about every month or 2). The traffic there can be rough on the ol' clutch leg.
