it will be a sad, sad day when the Viper goes away... because that will leave Chrysler with only the Challenger as a "halo" car... and I believe we all know that that isn't going to last... I mean, the original Challenger didn't even last very long

bottom line: the Viper gives Chrysler car that kids can dream about... ask Toyota what its like not to have a car like that... they're making all kinds of money and their sales have never been better... but they're missing something... and that something is a car that kids can dream about... mark my words: in 10 years, if Toyota doesn't get another Supra type of car, people will be calling them the Buick of the Japanese car companies... even Honda has a halo car

bad idea, Nardelli... when you're in the market to sell a $80k car, you can't get mad when the numbers are down... you have to accept that the numbers will be only as good as the market can handle.

I haven' t heard that one. I tend to doubt it though. Dodge just updated the Viper for 2008. But with the sale of Chrysler by Daimler to a holding company I guess anything is possible. They just killed the Magnum, Crossfire, and PT Cruiser convertible too.

A cousin of mine has a '93 Viper he bought brand new tthat still sits in his garage in top condition today.

I'm not sad really; with or without the Viper life will go on. Secondly, this isn't official. I'd really be upset if we ever lost the Vette.

Yeah the venom was hennessey's tuner viper.

As mentioned, the Venom is from Hennessey.

The Copperhead was a concept car from more than a few years back....think back around the Prowler days....it had a similar look to the Viper....but...well, it was less....well, everything. Smaller, not as outrageous, not as anything...it was about 7/10ths Viper....other problem...it was a V-6 I believe....see the links below.

I think after they scrapped the plan to make this, they used the "Copperhead" name for a package on the Viper. It was a paint color (Copper Orange) and an interior upgrade....I don't even think there were any power upgrades.

Chrysler is going the way of DeLorean and AMC, I'm afraid. They're sales are down, and they won't be able to catch up to the competition. While Chevy and Ford duel over horsepower numbers and quality, Chrysler Group will divide and collapse. I hope GM buys Jeep or Dodge when they eventually go for sale to keep at least one of the uplifting parts of the company in America.
