It's the internet. Every group- drivers, racial, political, etc. gets bashed and stereotyped and it's just a big circle of stupidity. Doesn't matter where it comes from, it's stupid to stereotype.

This started in the 80's and 90's man, don't blame the interwebz for this stereotype. I graduated in 1987 and I remember people making fun of Camaro owners way back then (and Nova owners as well, maybe even worse). Although the internet existed, it wasn't even close to what it is now.

btw, Croathlete~ nice job on that video last weekend.
Glad you enjoyed it. Next step is to replace the mesh heads with acoustic heads and wait for the neighbors to leave.

This thread is hilarious!

Mudvayne for me!

I had a mullet before it was called a mullet (1980 and on), back then
we were just punks.

And yes, I drove a camaro, 69 to be exact.

Private owners will have to decide for themselves if any 'stigma' their circle of friends attach to driving a Camaro is worth the hassle. That said, there is absolutely no doubt that GM would benefit greatly if said stigma were to go away or become greatly diminished. Whatever our personal take on the issue might be, the General will absolutely lose some sales simply because there are people who will not consider a Camaro due to the image owning a Camaro projects.

Hmm. I suppose that with the 5th gen playing 80's metal isn't quite appropriate. We need something a bit ... classier?

They did an entire album of Metallica songs. I own a copy, the title is pretty derivative: Plays Metallica by 4 Cellos. I think Sad But True is the best one on the album.

You can never get rid of steriotypes that are based on facts.

Just like there are ALWAYS going to be A-holes who drive bmw's there are always going to be white trash hill billys who drive camaro's

A tick over 13.0 sec. and you're through the quarter-mile. It's a rush, of course, but not overly dramatic. Try the same thing with this pair's predecessors of 1970 or so and you'll find yourself in a bit of a wrestling match. Ain't progress wonderful? Maybe yes, and maybe sometimes it's fun to wrestle."

I think the new Camaro will move the needle away from the stereotype.... but it will go slowly.

GM has been trying to kill the "disco" and "poser" image the Corvette developed for itself in the 1970s almost ever since. And even after the last 10 years of much improved products with much more credible performance, true racing heritage, etc., they still have some image issues IMO.
