They are working on a mechanical issue. What I would love to know is why the hell the airlines don't have an extra plane or two lying around they can transfer people onto, rather than make everyone sit and wait while they fix the first plane. What if they don't do it right?

Plus, it isn't like a bus where all they need to do is radio it in and we can drive another bus out to meet them. Moving airplanes, having passengers transfer to another airplane, moving luggage and cargo...it's probably easier to just fix the problem than sort out the logistical nightmare of switching to a new plane.
