Here it is on the CTS-=V
In researching a new V Coupe I found out they charge $1300 GGT for a manual transmission CTS V and $2600 GGT for an automatic. Essentially even though there is no charge to get an automatic the extra GGT makes it a $1300 option. Not saying thats what the ZL1 will be, but it wont be too far off... |

I could see why something in between the SS and the ZL1 would be attractive to some potential buyers. Perhaps something like 1LE which
could avoid the GGT, but still have the potential with some modding to be a very aggressive car. All that being said, I sticking with the ZL1 it has pretty much all that I'm looking for. I'll be willing to pay GGT and be done with it, well perhaps some mods here and there once I recover from paying off my new car.

I have it too. I just means that the car hauler will stop at my house and unload my car to my driveway.

I paid $2,600 on my CTS-V (auto) about a month ago.

I look at it this way, if you really can afford the ZR1 or a Camaro ZL1, the Gas Guzzler Tax probably shouldn't be too big of a concern.. We all understand that this car is going to do poor on gas and is going to be priced well into the $50 thousand dollar range.. It should be no big shock of a GGtax that high..

We went to the Miami Auto Show this weekend and no Chevy did not bother to send a ZL1 to a show that has an area populated by 4 million people. While we were there we found other cars that were subject to a GG Tax.
2012 Cadillac CTS-V (Auto) - 12/18 MPG - $2,600.00 GGT 2012 Cadillac CTS-V (Man.) - 14/19 MPG - $1,300.00 GGT 2012 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 - 14/21 MPG - $1,000.00 GGT 2012 Dodge Challenger SRT-8 - 14/23 MPG - $1,000.00 GGT 2012 Ford GT500 - 15/23 MPG - NO GGT 2012 Camaro SS - 16/24 MPG - NO GGT If the ZL1 Manual could match the ZR1, it would only be a $1,000 GGT

I'd be very pleasantly surprised with that as I've been budgeting for a higher number.

I dont see why the ZL1 cant at least match the ZR1 GGtax...it has less HP and a smaller engine correct? I really wish chevy could have matched Ford and put the GGtax issue to rest but I guess not. I'm sure the 2013 Gt500 will have the tax tho. Hopefully the MSRP is adjusted to compensate for this shortcoming

Well, it won't be any worse than the CTS-V. Sure, its more powerful, but that extra power comes from having a better breathing engine so it won't hurt the fuel economy, and if anything it will help it. The Camaro is a touch smaller & lighter, which would also help a bit. So I wouldn't be surprised if the ZL1 comes in one bracket better than the CTS-V, which would be $1000 for the manual & $2100 for the auto.
