Ford are pathetic. Hopefully their company doesn't read this post so they don't charge me for saying their name.

Sounds like some lawyer at F*** has been hanging out with Shelby a little too much.

Oddly enough, when you try and say that it sounds kinda Swedish . . .

Anyway, I will give my $0.02 on this. Company F has gone and pissed off some of its most loyal supporters about a year before one of its biggest money makers has two serious competitors on the streets, the Chevrolet Camaro and the Dodge Challenger. Thats Camaro and Challenger in case you missed it. I think I can talk about those cars all I want and neither GM or Chrysler will have a problem, they would probably welcome the free advertising. Though I welcome the return of the pony cars (Camaro, Challenger, and "the car that shall not be named") this is a very stupid move on the part of Company F

and finally, a Ford employee steps in and resolves the issue... kudos to Ford employee Whitney Drake for stepping up to the plate and stopping the madness.

My name is Whitney Drake and I work in Ford Communications.
We've been watching this discussion with interest and I'd like to
clarify what is essentially a misunderstanding.

Yesterday we spoke to both Cafe Press and the Black Mustang Club
and explained the situation (about the Black Mustang Club’s calendar) to everyone's satisfaction. Ford has no problem with Mustang or other car owners taking pictures of their vehicles for use in club materials like calendars. What we do have an issue with are individuals using Ford’s logo and other trademarks for products they intend to sell. Understandably, we have to take the protection of our brands and licensing very seriously.

Ford did not send the Black Mustang Club a “cease and desist” letter telling them that they could not use images of their own cars in their calendar. The decision not to allow the calendars to be printed was made by Cafe Press, because we had gotten in touch with them in the past about trademark infringements on products they sold.

The Black Mustang Club, and any other Ford enthusiast club, are free to take pictures of their own vehicles for use in calendars or other materials as long as they don't use Ford trademarks in products that will be sold.

I think it is great that the Black Mustang Club, and any other enthusiast club, would take pictures of their own vehicles for use in calendars or other materials.

I'm looking forward to purchasing a copy to hang in the garage next
to my Mustang (even if mine isn't black).

Thanks for giving us the chance to have our say.

Ford should have released this, or something like it, before they decided to take action. They wouldn't have gotten so much egg on their face.

Good news is they appear to have fixed it. I wonder if that means you have to blur the logos off your car (doesn't make much sense), or if the calendar just can't have the appearance of being a Ford publication.

That was exactly my thought as I read it. You can take a picture of your car as long as you remove the logo or you take the picture from an angle where the logo is not visible. Does this count for the Mustang logo as well?

If that is true, they pretty much are saying that you can't take a picture of your car. I think further clarification is still necessary.

This is a pretty funny thread. Now, for all those that were interested in stickers, stuff like this is why it takes some time. I have a whole bunch of info that needs to be filled out, sent to GM licensing, and then hopefully we'll be released to have different things made.

It's a time consuming process, but will get done so we can all hopefully be able to proudly display where WE come from!

Damn, now that they seem to have this settled, does this mean we have to go back to using the F*** name and the associated copyrights/trademarks? That sucks. I really like the idea of making sure no one says their name, the names of their cars, etc.

I will try and make this the last post where I type the word "Ford". I will refer to them as Company F, just like I try for Company H and Company T. There is also the added incentive because in my family, Ford is a four letter F word that shouldn't be said.
