TSA Roadblocks in Tennessee?
Has anyone heard about this? Apparently the TSA is going to start setting up checkpoints to do random searches of vehicles and Tennessee is the inaugural state for the launch of this new program.
![]() Anyone from Tennessee that can confirm this? Did the Fourth Amendment really just get thrown out the window?

Haven't heard, but why is TSA involved if true? Aren't they the blue shirts who search you when you check-in at an airport?
Actually some roadblocks are legal. DUI checkpoints happen frequently here in Ca. |

Yeah going to have to throw up the
flag on that one... Sounds like just a rumor to me, dunno what business the TSA would have setting up roadblocks... unless it's going into the airport or something, and even that I find highly questionable.

TSA = Transportation Security Administration (Doesn't say anything about "Airport-Only")

"The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is an agency of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security that exercises authority over the safety and security of the traveling public in the United States."
"Responsible for aviation security (domestic and international, most notably conducting passenger screenings at airports), as well as land and water transportation security" The reason I posted this thread was to see if anyone in Tennessee has encountered one of these roadblocks and to find out if they are, indeed, only stopping commercial vehicles, or if they are stopping commuter traffic as well. I might have read too much into the article, but it sounded like these were complete roadblocks, similar in fashion to ICE and DUI roadblocks, where every vehicle was forced to come through the existing truck weigh stations to be randomly searched...

I guess we just don't traditionally hear about TSA using that power.

One of the reasons this concerns me is that, come August of next year, several of the convoys from the southern states will be traveling through a significant portion of Tennessee. This could potentially add a significant amount of time to the road trip to Indianapolis

Border Patrol has been doing the same junk down here for years. They usually just ask you your citizenship status, where you're going, if you own the vehicle and sometimes for permission to look inside the car your driving. Waste of money if you ask me.

I've become an expert of knowing what roads go around the checkpoints in New Mexico. On I-10, US70 and I-25 they just hold everyone up. Funny how much more I got questioned when my hispanic Loss Prevention Agent went with me last time.
