Nice for the military families, but that is a little worrisome. Is that what the commanders on the ground advise????????????????????????????

Yea we just shut down operations at Balad and are already out of country. "trust me" everybody will be gone very soon.

Whether or not this is good for the Iraqi people........well we'll just have to wait and see.

Hate to go there, but I'm pretty sure it's a 2012 campaign move...

The only true way that we could permanently help those folks is to reside there forever. IMO, this is not our fight. They have been fighting for years and will continue to do so. We can't fight everyone such as Iran, Syria, and North Korea...

The magic number that everyone keeps throwing around is 2014 at the earliest.

No and no. See quote from CNN article below:

About 39,000 U.S. troops are in Iraq, and the U.S. had wanted to keep from 3,000 to 5,000 troops in Iraq past 2011 to aid in training and security. But the current Status of Forces Agreement with Iraq dictates the U.S. troops leave by year's end, and the United States and Iraq had been unable to come to an agreement on key issues regarding legal immunity for U.S. troops who would remain in Iraq, effectively ending discussion of maintaining a significant American force presence beyond 2011.

Yes, because the president of the US will admit to doing this for his own political gains.

It's my opinion, and nothing is going to change my mind about that.

that's good news for the troops that want to come home. Any other comment would make this political so I'm going to leave it at that.
