GM is the only one of the top 3 manufacturers who isn't having "money trouble"

What was it then when GM lost $39 billion in the fall? Also, what sort of trouble is Toyota having right now?

That was a taxes technicality. They didn't actually lose any money sales-speaking. They are dead even with taxes, and writeoffs as I understand it. So this will allow them to focus more on profits now, as I understand it.

And I believe (could be wrong) that he meant the Big 3.

Ok, that pretty much answers my question. Back on topic.

The Viper was an amazing car, know by all to be an uncompromising beast. It was created by a couple of the biggest names in the automotive industry, Bob Lutz and Carol Shelby. The comparison tests between the Viper and the Corvette have been amazing to watch and to read. I suppose this is a bitter sweet victory for the Corvette and GM, similar to what Ford had when the Camaro and Firebird production ended.

True that, but maybe Dodge/chrysler/Jeep/Plymouth - MOPAR has something up their sleeves for 2010 or 2011 ...... I know at one time they had a concept of a baby viper (copperhead) in the works but I think they canceled it all together

You know, you bring up an intersting point that's been stewing in my mind ever since I heard this.

I know it was his job - but I wonder how Mr. Lutz feels about this. Bitter Sweet might be an understatement. That was the highest-profile Hi-Po car he got together for Chrysler, wasn't it? And now he's done it again, by approving ZR-1. Which you notice was mentioned as a player in the death of the snake. Given the financial situation that Chrysler's in, they can't top the ZR-1.

Heh, he changed teams, and killed one of his brainchildren with a better one!

I know they don't own them anymore. They bought them, screwed them over with horrible products, then sold then to the company that will milk every last drop from it until it dies. Sad times.
