You don't need to "buy" a track key. When you buy the BOSS 302 you get both keys. What you do with those keys is not there problem.

You have no idea what the track key does, do you? We hope GM did/does the same thing with the Camaro. Insert the red key and the car is instantly transformed to another performance level. What car guy wouldn't want that?!?

Most 5th gen owners dont see it that way.

They seem come up with a million different reasons to not like the track key

Which is why it seems highly unconstitutional for California to not allow people that paid good money for the car get the full capabilities of the vehicle. I'd be suing for compensation from the state - oh wait, they're already broke!

IIRC the track key had to be purchased separately. Can't find the articles of course, but definitely saw that.

Have you ever driven an actual race car? Aside from a few truly sadistic ones in the group you wouldn't want to drive it on the street. The Track key is just that, completely tunes the engine for track performance. Its a good cheap and simple way for someone to have a car have 2 personalities.

Im confused...

"First off, the Blue Oval announced today that owners of the new Boss 302 will receive a dual set of keys, one of which, 'TracKey,' activates a secondary PCM race tune"

http://www.autoblog.com/2010/11/11/2...race-calibrat/

So you get the key but have to get the software from your dealer..... Do they charge for the software?

Both keys come with the car. The extra charge is for the programming of the PCM that adds the second tune, which makes the red key functional.
