As long as the NCAA makes it clear what is and is not a recruiting violation in relation to the TV network, then I don't think hypothetic situations are a legitimate argument for not having the network.
Let me just say right here, I think "The Longhorn Network" was and still is a stupid idea. Now, if the University of Texas System wanted to have a network for all of its sister schools, then I could understand it. Or even if they made a State of Texas network, I could understand that too. But a network focused primarily on just one school? Stupid. And I'm a diehard Longhorn fan.

This whole college football armagedon looks like it is being put on hold for a few. Pac 12 ain't taking no one else right now, OU will stay Big 12 IF the rules for the LHN are defined and Beebe gets ousted.
Reports are Missouri is going to the SEC........This is like a Soap Opera this year

I just heard on Rivals Radio Actually it was Misourri who flexed theres and everyone including Texas said they want to stick together as a Big12 confrence and get new leadership of the confrence ASAP. There is already talks right now in who will come in and replace a&m. OU concern is That Texas and Oklahoma work out their differences, including Texas possibly making some concessions on Longhorn Network content (such as no high school highlights and possibly no conference games). Texas might even need to share some revenue from its Longhorn Network with the Sooners imo its funny everyone still thinks we are going to be showing highschool Games on the LHN..... Odd if we did it would be HS games from egypt because once again its a state of TEXAS UIL rule no highschool games on TV unless its the playoffs. ( ESPN went to aledo to have the aledo and stephenville game on Tv a few weeks ago ) Aledo coach mentioned the UIL rule and talk was over. I think everyone needs to pull the wax from there ears and see there is no recruiting advantage over this network. Its going to be the same thing as the Big10 except all Texas. Now as for giving OU $$$$$ from this network I dont see why we would have to. Hell if they want one then go make there own network there are pleanty of sooner fans who would purchase this im very sure of. Because one person markets there school why should others take in the $$$$$ on that ? If thats the case then TEXAS needs to ask AGAIN who wants to do a Lonestar network ? if no one wants to do it then imo the LHN shall go on. Oh and no confrence games on this network i dont see an issue with that lol we only have 1 now KANSAS ![]() I as a longhorn fan/alumni will even say scrap bebee and get someone NEW. there needs to be a list of the rules what can and cant be shown on TV. |

I kind of hope the big 12 sticks together...it seems tradition means nothing anymore with all the big money swirling about.

I'm torn.
As a fan, I want to see competetive games and schedules. I'm sick of seeing 48+ points spreads and teams COVERING. ![]() That's just pathetic. And yes I'm talking about OU too. OU typicaly plays a tougher out of conference schedule than most but even the Sooners plays Tulsa or North Texas every once in a while. Why the f*** would I want to see them play a team they are supposed to dismantle by 40+? It's stupid. So........ if Superconferences are what will stop that, then I'm actually for it. I'm sick of teams always going undefeated. How competetive can your conference be if you alwasy have an undefeated team? There's something you just don't hear with NFL fans that drives me nuts with college. Goes a little something like this..................; "Oh, ya. Well we ran up a win on the same team that beat the team that blew out the team that you barely beat." ![]() "And another team in our conference beat the team from your conference that barely beat a team from that conference." ![]() "Your team only put up 21 points on that team that we put up 45 points on." ![]() And so on............. I'm for whatever brings about competition. Because we have very little of it the way it is. I just facepalm when I see a fan of a major college team sit there and fist pump and jump up and shout and cheer when their star RB just broke a 65 yard run when the other teams fastest player lost 10 yards worth of ground chasing him. And the fans the next day talk about how good the player is. Like Mike Tyson fighting ME and bragging. I'd rather watch OU FSU over Bama North Texas any day. Or Bama LSU over OU Tulsa. 16 team conferences will stop most of the undefeated crap. Ok...... ...... that's all for now.

IMO, I think most of those outside of Texas Alumni see it as following the letter of the law....but not the spirit. If Texas wants to have TLN and they can...good for them, I really don't care either way. Should they have to share what they built and put their money into? No, of course not. I agree with a list of tv rules....The problem with creating a list of rules for what can and can't be shown on tv is that all the conferences that have such rules also have a conference network. There is no Big XII network (which this conference could & should have created 10 years ago) so I think Texas is fully within it's rights to create their own network. The Big XII members knew of the network creation, but no one really said or did anything until the ink on the contract with ESPN was dry. If the other Big XII Members wanted, rules in place, they should have been proactive and not reactive to it. |

Just listened on the radio coming home to Texas president deloss doss and tid bits of OU's president. Funny a lot of the stuff the radio commetator asked in which we have been hearing over the last month both denied.
OU's president and athletic director Joe Castiglione denied he ever mentioned "we are going to the pac" . He said that was basically a conversation but ended with lots of ???????'s unanswered. He said the best way for OU to make $$$$ and win a champion is where they are. Deloss said "I talk to (Oklahoma athletic director) Joe (Castiglione) every day," Dodds said. "We are good. We have a great relationship." Castiglone agreed about there relationship. --In order to hammer the point home that schools can't just pick up and leave the Big 12, Dodds said there might need to be bigger exit penalties for the Big 12 conference. But more importantly Dodds said an iron-clad contract needs to be written and agreed to by the remaining members. "This handshake stuff probably won't work," Dodds said. "Probably need to get the lawyers involved in that one." --Much of realignment this year has focused - rightly or wrongly - on Texas' Longhorn Network. But Dodds said Texas is proud of LHN and doesn't plan on sharing any revenue from it. Dodds said $5 million of the $15 million per year ESPN is paying Texas for LHN is going to academics, and then UT must share 17 percent with IMG College (UT's marketing arm) and then pay other expenses. "When you get down to what we're getting it's smaller than people think," Dodds said. --When asked if Texas' public perception has taken a beating during realignment, Dodds said, "We are who we are. People say what they say. The outcome is the outcome. We are proud of ourselves. We are proud we put the kids first. We are proud we are taking care of our third-tier (TV) rights." --Dodds said Texas is in favor of sharing revenue from Tier 1 TV rights to help build stability into the conference. Orangebloods.com reported nearly a month ago that Texas was willing to end the unequal revenue sharing that has ruled the conference for all of its 16 years. It would mean a pay cut to Texas of roughly $2 million to $4 million annually in TV revenue, but would help those who have long sought equal revenue sharing such as Iowa State, Baylor, Kansas and Kansas State, whose operating budgets are one third of Texas. The league already has equal revenue sharing in the Tier 2 agreement signed in April with Fox for 13 years and $1.17 billion. --Dodds said part of the problem with the instability in college athletics is that "sometimes boards (of regents) get involved and that changes our world." Dodds said he wasn't pointing to any boards in particular, but he said, for the most part, "athletic people love the Big 12." Meaning athletic directors, and that's where the "congeniality is." --There are "a bunch" of schools that might be good fits to replace Texas A&M. Dodds wouldn't name any. He said he prefers getting to 10 schools and added that he "loves 10" but could see where the league might go to 12 at some point. --Dodds expects the Big 12's Tier 1 television deal with ABC/ESPN, which still has four years remaining on it, to get redone "sooner rather than later." Dodds did agree that Texas had conversations with the Atlantic Coast Conference that were "very positive," "We were very interested in the ACC if things imploded," Dodds said. "But that's not going to happen." Both Dodds and Castiglione from OU agreed On playing /TexasOklahoma at the Cotton Bowl beyond their current contract through 2015, Dodds said, Joe and I both feel "The State Fair of Texas needs to bring something to the table to keep us beyond that." Dodds alluded to more seating, more club level seats and overall improvements. In the past they have rewarded us and every year we bring 10K more people at a time to there establishment. OU's Castiglione said "The path to a championship in a 10-team league is clear. The path to a championship in a 16-team league is cluttered." On the possibility of independence, Dodds said, "We looked at it. It was not very high on our list. It's problematic for football scheduling and for scheduling your other sports. We probably make more money as an independent, but it would hurt our kids with inconsistent travel. "But we are stopping looking at all that and putting everything with all of our efforts back into the Big 12," Dodds said. Dodds last said continuing to play Texas A&M in football would be "problematic" because of scheduling. Dodds wouldn't say if Texas would try to replace A&M with Notre Dame going forward but did gush about UT's relationship with the Irish. "One thing we've learned through all of this is Notre Dame is a strong friend," said Dodds, adding that he wouldn't rule out Texas and Notre Dame one day being in the same conference possibly joining the Big12. Amazing until something is in writing sounds like ESPN is just bsing everyone who knows whats right until you hear it out of the presidents mouths lol
