Just bought and Xbox

Well guys, as some of you know I had an injury that's been keeping me indoors for a while and finally gave in and got a Xbox today. I'm not a huge gamer, but have owned a PS2 before and played games. I didn't just buy this Xbox to use for a couple weeks, its going to be my dvd player as well and I'm sure I'll keep playing it once I move into my apartment. My question is, what good games are you guys currently playing? I've been out of the loop for a while, but I got Forza 3 and TDU 2 with my Xbox and have been playing those. Since I have the racing games covered for now, what do you suggest. All my friends have said COD, which I'll probably get but I'm also thinking Left 4 Dead or Dead Island. Any other interesting ones I've probably missed?

Role playing? Sports? FPShooters? Arcade? Thinking types?

OK, this is just my opinion...but I have played a ton of games on a ton of systems.

First Person Shooters. Don't bother with consoles. Do those on a PC with a good graphics card. Mouselook is SO much better than ANY other controller you'll find on consoles. If you doubt me, Let's find a game that will allow play between the PC and Console versions, and I'll show you what ownage is.

Sports games are awesome on consoles. Madden Football in particular.

Some driving games are ok on consoles as well.

Seriously, if you decide to play Left 4 Dead on a console over a PC, I will have to rip off the arm of a zombie and beat you with it repeatedly. I'm not kidding!!! Oh, and we're talking about without auto-aim type helpers that many consoles have because the controls suck so bad.

My ultimate suggestion is buy used games. They are cheaper, and you can find out what style of games you like without going broke.

If a gen1 reg box, hit ebay, will be able to get whole game collection cheap.
As their only other option is to sell em for $1-$2 each at a game trade place.

Dead island is amazing!!! but, a bit glitchy definitely install the game. Co-op is amazing and it has alot of replay value.

I got the e-74 error today so i can't play but once i get my system fixed hit me up! Taintedveins

Sure I do. I've owned pretty much every console that's come out over the years. Atari 2600, Nintendo, Super-Nintendo? (can't remember what the 2nd gen Nintendo was called), Sega Genesis, X-Box, X-Box 360, Playstation, Playstation 2, PS3...maybe even one or two others.

I still have my Nintendo with it's cartridges.

My point is that console games have their place. I love playing sports games on a PS3. Final Fantasy. Some driving games. But shooters basically suck on a console. Maybe that's because I'm spoiled with what I can do with a PC and mouselook.

I've played Halo and a few other games, and just find that their equivelents in a PC are just much more fun to play. Of course, many PC games have better graphics and other options too because you have more memory and HD space to work with.
