CLP is a good all around lube. I like the Hoppes bore snake for cleanin the bore. Are u dead set on the 9? I would take a look at a 40 at least, but thats just me. Happy shooting

Im with Bay Area on the .40 cal, that is my duty carry size and that's what I'm used to, but that's just my opinion. Also, depending on what type of grip is on the pistol, maybe you want to look into a Hogue grip to slip on over it....I find them extremely comfortable and they enhance the shooting experience. You also might need to find a good comfortable holster for your belt if you plan to carry it concealed.

Get some band-aids for whatever you shoot with it because it will probably break the skin.

I'd go .40 cal or even .45 if you like putting big holes in things.

J/K

Make sure you get eye and ear protection....spend a bit more for better stuff if you plan to shoot a lot. You get what you pay for here. Also a run of the mill cleaning kit available at the gun store will do just fine.

Hard case and you should be good to go.

If the weapon does not come with a trigger lock you may also need to get that as well. Spme state require weapons to be locked for child safety.

Get a staple gun or some thumb tacks. I usually go to State Game Lands to shoot, they are public ranges and they have heavy duty vinyl tarps tacked to wood frames and you need a way to attach targets to them if you're using paper targets.

I never thought of that the first time I went and had to bum stuff off of people.

All good info here, only thing I can add it look at the .40 or 10mm. A 9mm in my opinion is just for pissing people off or practice if ammo is still cheap.

Sig tho is a nice gun enjoy!
Cheers

If you're only using it for protection then a 9mm is more than enough gun. A 9mm will have no problem killing people and most hold more rounds than .40 or .45 cal. Now if you are planning on using it in the woods then I would agree with the other posters. I use a .45cal to carry when I'm walking the dog just in case I come across a bear ,but I use a 9mm in the service truck for protection. I like having the extra slugs on tap. Plus it's lighter. Sig makes a great 9mm. Don't forget to practice and get some training if this is your first hand gun. It's well worth it.

I understand the concept of larger caliber ammo for stopping power and I agree that a small caliber weapon is not your best choice for personal defense. But when I hear people say that shooting someone with a smaller caliber gun (9mm) will just piss them off I have to laugh. If you really think that then maybe you wouldn't mind demonstrating this and see if it just pisses you off.
End of rant. Carry on.

Do you think just maybe......just maaaaybe.....it's a figure of speach? That they don't really mean it? Is that even a possibility?

I don't know. It could be a figure of speech. It seems to me that this is some type of justification for using larger caliber weapons. Don't get me wrong. I am not apposed to that. All I meant was that using a slightly smaller caliber would do more than just piss you off. JMO

The concept of using a 9mm "to just piss someone off" is a figure of speech to illustrate that the 9mm is a smaller faster bullet. So yes if you shoot someone with it, it is more than likely going to penetrate right through them and you are going to have to rely on the higher capacity of the weapon for more bullets. Now if you shoot someone with a .40, which has the characteristics of speed (the 9mm) and stopping power (.45) then not only will you piss them off but you will ruin their day.

Plus what is wrong with using a larger caliber weapon? If I have to drive a 16p nail I am not going to use a tack hammer when a claw hammer it the right tool for the job.

Cheers
