Admitedly, not having lived in Oklahoma since Jr. High School, I have had to be an 'at large' fan. So going to any games has always been a no go for me anyway.

Dude...You have got to go to at least a couple...there is nothing like it especially at your home stadium during a rivalry game...The atmosphere is electric.

Kentucky is a Basketball school with a football team and all of this is ok to me.......I guess everyone needs balance.

To me the Big 12 is doomed and here is why I think that. Texas, OU and Ok St are the main draws nationally and no one really cares about TT, Iowa St etc......Baylor did bring some attention to themselves this past week because of it being a fun game to watch.

Baylor claims that if OU stays then it will let off the gas on this legal claim......WHAT????? You are waiting on OU? Come on man, really? Talking about being the little brother here. So what is Baylor going to do if OU leaves...sue them too? It is really simple...put a better product on the field Baylor and you will be OK......but Baylor has not been relevant in college football for years....they have only themselves to blame.

I did some figuring the other day about Alabama football. We have 101,000 person stadium. If each person spends only 10.00 at each home game then that is over 1 million in revenue per game.......trust me you can't just spend 10.00 when cokes are 6.00 ea. Most people spend anywhere from 20.00 to 40.00 ea game on concessions. This does not even include the cost of the tickets OR the donation that has to be made just to be able to buy tickets. With all that said a safe estimate per home weekend is about 7.5 million in gross revenue per game and with 7 home games that is around 52 million a year, not including bowl games, T-shirt hat and other stuff that has Alabama on it. I think last year they made 82 mil.

Kinda like the Boise St talk......Their stadium has what 30 to 40 k seating, really? Boise St says " No one will play us" BS the truth is Boise wants a home and home series and they want 75% of the gate....Really 75 %. Why would any major college football school do that....Take Alabama, Penn St, Ohio St, Texas, Tennessee, Michigan, OU etc.... most if not all hold over 100k compared to 40 k at Boise St and they are premier schools so why in the world would they go to Boise, Idaho to a 40k seat stadium to play? Most of the school mentioned above have that many people at spring games.

Baylor has not marketed themselves well enough, done good enough on the field of play and are now suffering and have been riding on the coat tails of OU, Tx, Ok St etc......Seems to me that they are sour grapes because no one really wants them.
Exactly. No draw from those smaller schools.

College Football needs to ask themselves what it is they want exactly. A viable product to market and make money with? Or the more socialistic aspect of keeping ALL of the colleges propped up so it's fair.

Individual schools make their decisions of operation and philosophy in procedure and figure out what is the most important aspects to fucus on. Prioritize. If they can't play with the big boys then they will have to accept that, OR do the things required TO play with the big boys.
So, then, if the NCAA decides that they want it to be more fair for all, then they procede accordingly. If they decide that they want to really break out and create a product to bring in all those fans in (like my father who don't even give college football a sniff because of lopsided, uninteresting games, no playoffs and lack of competetive consistancy) and REALLY compete with the NFL and make WAY more money.

Ok lets forget about the realignment for a bit and talk FOOTBALL.......

Alabama travels to Happy Valley to play old rival Penn St........Georgia vs South Carolina, Auburn vs Miss St. from the SEC Side.........

Auburn better bring their lunch if they want to compete in this game....don't see a good outcome for the Tigers.

The Dawgs host South Carolina and Mark Ricts seat is on fire if he loses this one. They may even back the U-Haul up to his front door before the game is over..........Don't see good things for the Dawgs this weekend either.

Alabama goes to Penn St.......last year Penn St gave Alabama the game with 4 turnovers, 2 inside their redzone. Both have QB issues and the weather is supposed to be terrible.....Low scoring game and hopefully Bama comes out on top but I think this is a Toss Up.

I'll be rooting for Alabama the rest of the way (or til they are out of the NC race) and OU of course to make it to the NC game. I have too many freinds and people that I know who are Bama fans to not root for them to meet.

That being said, I will wait til after week 3 to predict who I would guess for the big game at the end. Still dont' know what we have. I'll root for my Sooners but, like you John, I'll reserve judgement and not just jump on the 'We're number one' train.

But weekly games are still fun.

Goergia is a good team. I've been hearing crazy whacky fan guy say Goergia really sucks because they lost to Boise.

So I am going Georgia over SC. Spurier has been underachieving for a long time now. And though I agree with the saying that Boise doesn't have to line up against tough teams on a regular basis, it doesn't mean that they couldn't. My point has always been they don't deserve a shot because they don't have to play tougher teams like the rest do. BUT, I think they could just as easily do it in the SEC, Big 12 or Big 10 as Forida, Bama, Oklahoma, Texas Ohio State and others. But becasue they dont' DO it. They dont' get the shot at a NC. So to beat Boise is no smaller task then beating Bama, LSU, or OU. And LOSING to Boise is no worse than losing to Bama, LSU, or OU.

Gotta go Bama over Joe Pahhhhh.... lol Until a Big Ten team finally beats an SEC team that isn't Vandy, Miss St., Kentucky or SC, .... I'll go SEC all day long.

Miss St. is horrible around the clock. I'll go Auburn on talent alone. Utah State should be a pattsy game and it took a lucky fluke to win but every team has a game like that at times. And those teams out there in the west are under-rated. I think Utah, Boise, TCU and a few others have proven that enough times.

Bama may have lost a QB but after that Tornado this team is riding high on hope and the will to not give up to fight. The Town and everyone seems to be behind this team as for many its all they have left.

B10(12) is sitting pretty. Big 10 has a fine collection of teams with fans all over the country with TV markets to boot. I wonder what happens when the dominos start to fall. Does the SEC and Big Ten grab some teams from ACC thus making ACC go the way of Big 12. Big East then takes the scraps left over from ACC.

Or...ACC/Big East loses a few teams to Big 10 and SEC and the ACC then cleans up the Scraps of Big East.

The Big 12/Pac 12 scenario seems pretty clear. ND to Big 10 seems like the most likely move there. It is all the other possibilities in the East that really would be entertaining to see fall into place once the super conference stuff starts.

Either way... SEC and Big 10 will get the pick of the litter.

Go Penn State!

I will consider the Big12 the conference that made it all possible.

Michigan is 20-6-1 vs the SEC.

MSU looks really good right now. They came off a good season last year, returned a lot of players, and looked good last week. Auburn is totally rebuilding. They only returned 6 starters and needed a lot of luck to pull out a win against a team that should've been far inferior. I wouldn't be surprised if MSU pulled it out.

They can. Looked good this past week from what I hear. But if I had a gun to my head, I'd have to take Auburn.

And Michigan isn't that good lately. lol
