Good lookin stuff. Love the abstract stuff!

I do a little photography from time to time, but unfortunately working FT and being in surgical tech school doesn't leave me much time to do it anymore. I shoot with a Nikon D3000.

My boyfriend is a photographer though. He shoots for local papers as a freelancer and does a lot of sports photography. Cincinnati Reds, Bengals, UFC, etc. Anyone who likes photography can check out his stuff at www.513photography.com

He's also done some of my Camaro photos in my album here on C5.

Awesome, I shoot with a Nikon D7000 and absolutely love it!!

I wish I could make a full time job out of my portrait work, however, it is a pretty patch niche of photography. Depends on the weather, people's income and need for pics and such....maybe one day!

I do photography too. If yours is half-ass, then my detractors are prolly right when they say I'm a jack-ass.

Very cool. I use the Nikon D90, which is pretty nice...a step below yours, I believe. I still need to get a good Macro lens.

Currently have the D90 with the stock lens and a telephoto that I got around November of last year.

The telephoto is the Nikon 2161 AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED Lens

Very nice, I was actually looking at getting the 90 before the 7000 came out.

I have the Nikkor 18-105mm kit lens, the 55-300mm, and my favorite my nifty fifty 50mm f/1.8!

As a cheap alternative to a macro lens (which you probably will not use as much as you think) you might want to look into a good set of extension tubes. You can get stupid close with them, and they are a good bit cheaper than a good macro lens.

My next lens is going to be this bad boy:

I do a lot of work for a local night club, and that wide angle will really take me to the next level in the line of things!

If you're considerin' serious photography, cost is an issue. Lenses often cost much more than the camera body.

There are two companies that are within ballpark figures: Pentax and Nikon (not the exotic Contax/Leica line) that maintain the same lens mount configuration decade after decade. Others, like Cannon, force customers to buy entirely new lenses to fit their latest cameras' lens mounts.

Of the two, I've opted for the Pentax. It is somewhat lower in cost than Nikon, and is just as reliable. My super simple non-battery reliant K-1000 has gotten me through some messes outside the country where spare parts and batteries are laughably unavailable. All was well, it's too plain too fail.

The top-end features are also Pentax made in abundance. Have fun with your acquisitions, they'll do you right, for sure.

Very much an amateur here, but I enjoy shooting. Luckily the camera is smarter than I am, and takes nice pics in spite of my best efforts.

A few Camaro-centric shots:

Recent cruise with a few other 5th Gen Camaros from the Eastern TN Camaro club (I was the token Music City Camaro Club member):

And a couple "experimental" shots, including my avatar pic:

Actually, the Macro is a cheap update I still wouldn't mind doing, but you're right...it's really situational.

Truly, I want to start doing pictures with this...which I won't be getting right away. Kinda pricey, but this is what I've been looking at.

I fully agree, it definitely costs to play with the big boys. However, much like anything else, gear is only 10% of the equation! Practice and knowledge are the other 90%. Kind of like giving Tiger Woods some 1940s clubs, he will still be tiger woods!

I am not sure what the last part of your post was about, but I hope you didn't take something I said the wrong way. I meant no disrespect or anything man! Sorry if something came off the wrong way.
