That isn't the exterior anymore is it? And no, I haven't. It was at the Canadian International Autoshow but it was on a turntable. Couldn't get in it.

Just went and looked at the 3.8 and 2.0, very nice in person. I am not saying I was jumping up and down but that was cause the salesman was kind of getting on my nerves about the car and its power and tries at dissing my Balt SC. He even took me in to look at the v6 tiburon. I was standing there staring at the 3.8L they had and was loving it, interior looked great and he comes out and starts up, tells me to come in and look "at this, its the tiburon... what engine does your balt have?" I say "2.0L 4 banger." "Oh, well this is a 2.7 v6, manual, definitely nicer" "Oh really, does that heavy thing have 275Hp or so, ughm, and that number is off the bottle" Weird look from him so I keep going "yea, my lil' 4 is just Supercharged, stage II and custom tune with full exhaust and for extra giggles its on a bottle, but I am sure you do not know what I mean by bottle so... it runs on nitrous when I need which is mainly just for track days."

His attitude finally changed, I hate sales guys like that, thinking I am some stupid kid. I told him I was just looking and did not care to look at Tiburons so I went back out to look at the Gen. again. He started in on how the 3.8 has instant power, no lag as trying to say I have that in my car, guy obviously doesn't know what a SC is haha. Finally managed to get out of there, woulda asked for a test drive but I am sure they would only let you drive the 2.0 and that wouldn't impress me plus with a dumbass like that working who wants to even bother.

But yea, definitely nicer up close and in person.

LOL that's funny, I like the gen coupe, exterior is nice except for the front, but the front looks good at an angle, but dead on it's got to grow on you

I would like to see an comparison with the 3.8 and the 370 .... that would be interesting

yea, the front end view was like, ugh, I like but it looked alittle blah. Definitely would look better after you bought it type of thing haha. I was more impressed with the interior than the G35/37(rather have one of them over the 350/70 z, or did anyway lol). Who knows how Hyundai well be 5-10 yrs from now with the way they are putting out much nicer vehicles.

Want the cliff notes?

The 370z Destroys it.

A tick over 13.0 sec. and you're through the quarter-mile. It's a rush, of course, but not overly dramatic. Try the same thing with this pair's predecessors of 1970 or so and you'll find yourself in a bit of a wrestling match. Ain't progress wonderful? Maybe yes, and maybe sometimes it's fun to wrestle."

Hyundai had some issues with the ECU cutting off power mid-shift. The traction control was too anal. Still, 5.5 with ECU/TC problems aint bad.

Edmunds did a retest with a corrected ECU and cut their times by 0.5 seconds.

So your suggesting the Genesis coupe which has consistantly run 5.5's and up would have run a flat 5?

I thought the 5.5 was after they fixed the problem. It was beyond 6 seconds before.

If you'd asked us a year ago if we'd ever consider purchasing a Hyundai, we'd have laughed in your face. But now, with the Genesis Coupe, Hyundai makes an honest-to-god sports car and we find ourselves wanting a 3.8 Track.

(^) Jalopnik also wasted half a review of the Camaro talking about Star Wars...I'm not surprised they "want" one.

The only color that the genesis coupe looks good in is black or red IMVHO

Some of the slams on this car are ridiculous at best This is hyundais firsts ever RWD coupe and for what it is it's a great little car. The average buyer doesn't care about just horsepower, torque and cylinders. Alot of people consider the whole package. To some the 4cyl is inticing. A 4cyl with a 2.0T that is highly tunable, Rwd and gets awesome gas mileage with a great interior. You guys seem to forget the vast majority of the general public doesn't want a v8 or sub 5 second 0-60 or 13 sec Quarter.the majority want a nice affordable fun driving car and for many you will see this genesis coupe fill the gap. In both the tuner favorite 2.0T and the 3.8

Bah! The only real car is the Camaro...obviously the rest are all fakers..

:slurping kool-aid:

Seriously, though -- when you can have Genesis 3.8 performance for Genesis 2.0 Price (slightly higher) + sexy looks...heh...I'm thinking Camaro's gonna sell out pretty darn fast once dealers start getting cars. But I agree with you, ArcAngel -- this car will fit in nicely with the Tiburons, and Eclipses of the world -- but it'll also punch through to other demographics, much like Camaro.

That was funny dragon LOL. Yes definitely both cars will make inroads in different territories. That's what I mean. Sometimes on this forum we forget that people in the general public shop without blinders they shop with what fits there life/ budget. For instance a person who loves his cobalt SS,or VW GTI might consider the 2.0T for the same kind of four cylinder fun and tunerability. Just as the 3.8 will be cross shopped with cars that are alike. We need to step out of our Camaro box and realize how the average person sees automobile purchases on a broader plane than how car fanatics shop.
