When Wagoner took over GM was already completely fubar, the world was simply still pretending that they weren't fubar, kind of like it pretended that all of those sub-prime mortgages were a good idea. I'm sure Wagoner and crew weren't perfect but GM seems to have turned around it's quality problems, and to be making much more competitive vehicles than they were 5-10 years ago, these are both big changes that had to be made to keep GM from being in even worse shape. Before that they were headed the direction of Chrysler, which obviously wasn't a good direction to go. Now they are being ground down by problems that have been building for decades though, and of course the worldwide economic slowdown.

I agree Rick should be gone. Nobody in charge of a company that goes downhill should keep a job. My major issue is the govt' basically making it happen.

Go somewhere else to have that discussion. I'm sorry we are being so absolute on this but you remember the disaster we had here the last time. We will not make that mistake again. Not gonna happen.

Speak up somewhere else. We universally don't allow political debate here. From either side.

Wagoner definitely needed to be gone, as did the board of directors.
People seem to think that just because they made slight improvements that it was good enough. They need a CEO who can turn the entire company around and they don't need a board of directors who is obviously out of touch with reality (otherwise the CEO wouldn't be getting away with letting the company drown). Anyone who thinks it can't be done needs to look at what Steve Jobs did for Apple: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Jobs#Return_to_Apple Apple was just about done and Jobs came back and made the company what it is today, with the help of a competent team. |

As good as our members are, it kept spilling over to other forums and immature bickering was all over the place. Until the URL says Camaro5.gov, political commentary is out. Let it go.

(And don't give Apple as an example: They threw up a few "i-this" products, and took the world by storm with a gimmick. They nearly created the Mp3 player market, so it's no wonder they're doing well...name a segment in the auto business today that a company hasn't explored, yet....) He's a scapegoat, and nothing more. Because that's what people want to see: Firings. Dismissals. Nobody understands whats going on, but obviously it's somebody's "fault". So somebody must "pay". It's the absolutely idiotic mob-mentality that's sweeping the nation af late -- and of all the issues; that is the one that scares me the most. My heart bleeds for this guy...collateral damage to preserve the company.:( How so? I have a few rebuttles, but I'm genuinely interested in what 'proof' you have of that? |

Dont wanna be political. But my initial thought is. With a new board of dir. and close government review what does this mean for our cars. This forum is about the camaro. The Gov. and GM has stated they will honor our warranty. Great. But what if the new board decides we must go hybrid and stop the Camaro? Am I just paranoid or does anyone see this as a possability?

The Camaro has a solid future for this generation, at the very least. And so long as the rest of the fleet compensates for any mileage deficiet -- future generations will be fine, because it will sell (and that's the real decider). And with upcoming cars like the Cruze and the Volt, together with advanced technologies being invested in....I don't see any reason to worry too much about a single car. Especially not one as exciting as the Camaro.
