5th gen firebird? FutuTe GTO?
As much as I like camaros, I have always had more of a soft spot for pontiacs. The first car I have memories of riding in as a kid was an 89 trans am. Does anyone know exactly how dead the possibility of a pontiac based on the zeta architecture is?

As far as we know there is less of a possibility to see a firebird than there is to see a Z28.
There's a couple of threads about this around here. Use the search feature on the top menu to look for it. |

While it's a sad reality. GM needs to close Pontiac down and consolidate brands IMO*.
The days of selling a car with 5 different names is over. It's simply too expensive in terms of marketing and the Japanse and Koreans don't do that as much as GM and Ford tend to. There really is no need to have anything other than Chevrolet and Cadillac IMO*. The rest should be merged.. even GMC needs to go into The Chevrolet Motor Company. You have to be a LEAN MEAN fighting machine! Like Dewey OxBurger! (Movie stripes). |

I agree, they shouldn't have 5 brands selling the same same car but.... Pontiac offers some good cars no other American gm brand does. G8, Solstice... why close them? Why not just have them sell unique cars?

I would love to see a Firebird version but odds are it wont happen. I wish tho when they close Saturn they change the Solstice to look like the Sky.

But chevys never have as good exterior or interior design as Pontiacs imo. WHy not just turn pontiac into a LEGIT excitement and performance division and dum everything else? DUMP GMC, Dump Buick etc.. Then give pontiac the firebird and let them make it better than camaro...

Really? Camaro styling is always boring and bland imo. I love how the trans ams had popup lights. That would be awsome in the current zeta platform.

Having owned 5 Firebirds,YES I would like another.... With the cash flow at GM these days I don't think there is any possibility... I'm sure i'll be extremely happy with my Camaro!!!

I would also like to see the Firebird, as my DD is an 02 Trans Am Firehawk and my last one was a 95 Firehawk. I might prefer it to the Camaro (but who knows what it would look like, so it's silly to talk about that). But it doesn't make sense to have 2 pony cars at a time when the General is just trying to survive and compete with the Japanese car makers. That will be the emphasis of the new CEO who replaces Rick Waggoner. So I am not waiting for a Firebird. |

Sorry, but it's been confirmed many times that the Firebird is gone, and the Trans Am name is doubly gone (lost the license to the that name). I would also love to see a new Firebird, but it just simply isnt gonna happen (unless you a custom car bulider that wants to take a 5th gen and make it your own personal, one-off Trans Am).
