Well, originally, Sam Walton was the CEO of WalMart (he's dead now....), so I guess you're close enough....

And so, after all is said and done, the new quote to unravel its authorship is:

"Ecce Homo."

Hint it's so famous that it is left in the Latin. Paintings of the scene when it was said are masterpieces of the Renaissance.

New quote: "I love luxury. And luxury lies not in richness and ornateness but in the absence of vulgarity. Vulgarity is the ugliest word in our language. I stay in the game to fight it."

I don't understand of what in the world you girls are speakin', swappin' stories 'bout shoppin' which as far as actions go, for men, is about the worst. Mutual suicides come in ahead by just a little bit. How do you gals manage to talk 'bout what to a man seems to be nothin'? Perhaps, if we, men, learned to do this as do y'all do, the world might be a better place.

Nah! Just writin' that last sentence made me feel queasy, as if I momentarily lost my balls. The feelin' that swept over me was akin to becoming, through one's accumulated angst, aware of human mortality being utterly bereft of meaning in the existential horror of our Universe.

Without humor there is but horror. Let's laugh whilst we can, it IS hella funny after all. Whew, I won't let 'dat happen again soon.

Alright already. THIS quote has a subject so very far out and gone from what men, at least this man, consider to be within the scope of regular life that I had to call in the reinforcements of the men who are more sensitive to the female components of their psyche to aid me in sussing the author of your quote.

And indeed, it WAS said by a man rounded into his femininity, Calvin Klein.
This is all fine and good, I suppose. But for the life of me, I do NOT have any of these "sought after" softer sides to my being.

All this stuff just seems weird and creepy. None of it will ever be part of me. I ain't hiding from nothin', it just ain't there to be found. I suppose that it is I who am insufficient, and I'll just hafta' live with it.:(

Next quote: "Damn the torpedoes, full-speed ahead!"

By the way, so far, I have never looked up any quote anyone has proposed, nor have I submitted any quote other than those that came naturally to my mind. Sometimes, the exigencies of one of you "beating me to the punch", figuratively speaking of course, forced me to propose quotes that were of a lesser quality than I would have preferred. Those are the strictures under which we have agreed to labor never the less, eh?

Admiral Farragut during the battle of Mobile Bay during the Civil War.

Next quote: "How many legs does a dog have if you call the tail a leg? Four. Calling a tail a leg doesn't make it a leg."
