Myst and Riven were both great games, if you like trying to solve puzzles while exploring a beautiful world.

Dungeon Keeper
Capitalism Plus (You may not like it, but I love financial/business sims)
All of the Fallout's...but sounds like you already have them.
Interstate 76
All of the Jagged Alliance games
Master of Magic
Master of Orion (both are good, but 2 is one of the best games ever)
Rollercoaster Tycoon Deluxe
Sid Meiers Alpha Centauri
Star Control 1 & 2
All of the Total Annihilation games
Wing Commander & Privateer (ok, this one is a sentimental favorite. Graphics will now suck, but Privateer was one of the best 3D Space Combat/trading/pirating type games EVER. I'm considering buying it right now just because I really miss this game...the only game that compared was X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter)

Note: I've pretty much owned 95% of the games on that list. Most of them are dogs. The ones I listed are honestly ones I'd consider playing again. Master of Orion would be an excellent game to start with. It doesn't run on Windows 7 though, but if you have XP you'll be good.

Borderlands is not on the list but you get plenty of replay value.....

Did you ever play Wing Commander secret ops, the full version they gave away free? I member it was a good game, cept I dind't learn enough. Was upset that it took 15-20s to fly to the next battle, I just never hit the warp button DOH

I probably did. I was addicted to the entire Wing Commander series. Privateer was the last game they released, but it is also the best.

Though a note on compatability, why I like GOG they take old games and make them work on everything.

considered getting Shogo MAD, could never play it enough from crashes
