Thought I was getting a speeding ticket

So, I was driving home from work tonight, and decided to see how my V6 would do in moderate temps - low 80's. My light turned green and I stomped it, before I knew it, I was doing 68 in a 55. I don't normally speed, and quickly slowed to 59. A bit later a police officer pulled up beside me. I thought for sure he was going to pull me over, but he just drove beside me. When I looked over, he gave me a thumbs up, and sped up and left me. I normally use a Malibu for my daily drives, and was a bit surprised and happy with how quickly the Camaro climbed. I've only had one ticket in 28 years of driving, but thought I was getting my second tonight. I'm very thankful the officer didn't ticket me. I need to be more aware when I drive the Camaro.

At least, I think it was a thumbs up, it was pretty dark, so he may have been pointing a finger at me or something, but since he didn't pull me over, and then sped past me, I assumed it was a thumbs up.

same thing happend to me i was cruiseing along i do 60 in a 50 normal so i was doing close to 65. (Sometimes its hard to maintain speed in this car ). Seen this state trooper and as i went by him he pulled out right behind me i was like OH F*^* (i tryed to slow down to 55 but i knew he saw me i was dead meat). So he pulled right up to my a$$ and was rideing it all i could think was. Well looks like i got a ticket. So he fliped his lights on real quick i was like . HERE WE GO so i pulled into the slow lane prepareing for the worse. So he blew by me (lights off) and was doing 70 plus. Cops love to break the rules they enforce around here. That gos double for the state cops. I see them speeding 15 20 over the legal speed limit with out there lights on all the time. And he just disappered into the distance. Scared the crap out of me

That's funny. I was a cop in the Air Force for 10 years, and was always very careful to obey the laws myself...usually.

yeah also state troops dont pull NO body over off the highway. I rarely see them enforce laws at all. I am not cop bashing here not by far just speaking the truth. State cops speed illegaly all the time fact of life around here. Cops SHOULD drive the speed limit at all times UNLESS they got there lights on. Thats law they break it simple

*edit* if you see a state trooper pull someone over you KNOW they screwed up bad. Makes you wonder wtf they did worng to have a state cop pull them over. And local cops pull you over for anything ugh cops around here so correcpit IMO

Your luckier than me. I have a lead foot but I don't drive that much over the limit but the one day I was pissy after getting off late from work and ignoring my speed warning I got popped 79 in a 65. The worst, or best I guess, part was that I had been driving much faster earlier and for the first time saw triple digits in passing someone but I backed it off after that and this cop got my while I was in this one section where there is always conjestion and always a bunch of slow pokes so I was actually just passing at that point. But no break for me he wrote me up and for the full amount. I was very nice and polite to him so he really could have wrote it for less but he seemed like an A-hole with no personality, hell I'd even change my opinion about him if he wrote me up for the full amount but acted like a human while he did it cuz I was nice the whole time. Costed me $125.

Normaly I stay under 10 over and have no problems at all but I had started to push the envelope cuz this car just wants to go so it was probably inevitiable that I was going to get a ticket. Now I'm back to my usual hovering around 10 over and slacking off when the speed warning chimes.

Max i do mostly is 15 over like 65 in a 50 or 75 in a 65. Mostly i stick to my golden rule of 10 over 99.9% of the time. Long as its not like 3 in the mourning cops board looking for something to do. I get away with it but at that times i go DEAD on the speed limit set cruise control to 45 DEAD ON in a 45 30 in a 30 . I wont give the cops ANY reason to pull me over. Though they have before for NO reason harrasment in its finest

Good GOD no they shouldn't. NOBODY drives the limit on the highways and if a Trooper did it then he would have traffic backed up for miles behind him because nobody would pass.

Troopers drive faster on the highways so they don't impede traffic. You might not like it but I do.

Cool cops are the best! Most times they wont pull you over in a 55 until you get over 70 so they can get you for more points/money haha

I think most police officers can be sympathetic and won't nail you for small offenses, unless they are a small town cop with nothing else to do and a quota to meet. I got pulled over in my Vette for going a whopping 7 MPH over the speed limit (and I was entering a 35 from a 30, so I was really going 2 MPH over) and a small town cruiser saw it appropriate to do a 180 in the middle of a busy road to pull me over. He asked me where I was going in such a "rush" and I told him I was off to buy some cookies...after he had a good laugh he let me go with a verbal warning.

Ehh... not really. No one wants to pass a marked police vehicle, so they tend to create backups if they do this. I knew a cop who, when he was a rookie, drove down the DC Beltway doing 55 in the right lane, just to see what would happen. Ended up creating a huge backup and got chewed out for it.
