Trust me my house and our house in FL is like that. I live 20 minutes outside of town at the end of a dead end road on a 50+ acre ranch. Only Verizon gets service and its sketchy. We only get internet because we complained to the nearest company for years until they ran a line.

My house in FL is 45 minutes outside of town on a clay road. 200+acres. No cell, no internet.

I lived south of Houston when Ike came through. I had a tree on my house in the front. The entire root system came up with the tree, along with the main water line to the house. I had trees in my pool. Not limbs....TREES. I got a new roof, fence, pool cleaner, several trees cut and hauled off, etc, etc. What a hassle. I LOVE storms, even big ones, but geeeeeez!!!

Our generator will power all three fridges and the small air unit. But not the big air unit. (and thanfully the internet teehee) We have to chain it to the axle of Dads truck though. Dad wants the one that is built into the house to run on our propane tank.

Wow that is nuts!

Yeah we lost 28 trees in the pasture and one took out our pump house. The day the storm hit me and my mom and my dad single handidly pulled down every tree near the house with a chain saw and a rope and left them. Otherwise I'm sure they would have been on the house.

They are pricey but worth it. Dad was an HVAC company owner and did backup generators too.

We got one from a client that needed a bigger unit. The old one had 20 hours on it.

25kw generator. thing is awesome. We have 55gals of diesel on standby.. lasts a day or two.

We have to fill ours up in the morning and at night but it takes gas i think. After Ike we had to drive all the way up to buffalo (1.5hrs) to get gas and they only let us get $100. Then a friend from College Station brought us $200 worth.
