So is there something wrong with my PC or is IE 9 that much of a pile of crap

I'll keep it short and sweet. Built a new PC earlier this year, running Win7 64 bit pro, AMD Phenom 1100T, 8gigs of ram, 64 gb SSD boot drive and 2 1.5tb hard drives in RAID for files/programs. Everything seems to run perfectly fine, I use Firefox 99% of the time. Windows update works fine, etc.

However I also have IE 9 64 bit, anytime I so much as TRY to give it a shot it crashes. Try to download a file, it crashes, go to a webpage it doesn't like, it crashes, etc. Is IE 9 that much of a heap or is this a sign of an underlying problem with my system? (and yes I have deleted and re-installed it a couple times)

IE has always been a bunch of crap, 9 makes it just a not so bad bunch of crap. Switch to something else.

IE may have it's problems, but that is certainly not typical. If it were MS would be out of business. You have some type of file corruption, driver issues, etc. Problem is trying to track it down.

Are you by chance running any firewalls?

Try the following as well:

Go to the control panel, then internet options. Then click on the Advanced tab, then reset and finally click delete personal settings

IE9 is a pile of sh*t. Typical Microsoft disregard for standards compliance. I had to re-work a few pieces of my company's ecommerce site when it came out

My computer was crashing multiple times daily while I was using IE. I even disabled all add-ons like I had read online, and it still crashed. Now, I've been using Chrome for the past 2 weeks and it hasn't crashed at all. I don't like Chrome, but I don't like having to reboot my computer even more.

I am guessing something else installed might be interferring. Like I said no issues and I support several machines using 64 bit, but none on pro. Good luck.

I basically exclusively use Firefox, but I just like to make sure everything is functional from time to time, and it turns out IE9 is a mess.

I run it both at work and at home with no problems. I do have to run some sites in compatibility mode to get all functionality...but other than that...no problems.
