Just fought a similar battle with some water spots from a sprinkler.

Couple of links to some really specific articles on the subject:

http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/...ter-spots.html

http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/...pots-hand.html

It took me 3 attempts, each time going more aggressive with the polish/compound, to get rid of them. Luckily I had a DA polisher. I don't think it could be done by hand.

Good luck!

I had an issue once with tree sap too, and was so upset, because that stuff is sticky. I tried by washing the car, but it wasn't having much effect.

I happen to have a small bottle of Mother's Carnuba Wax (liquid) so I tried a small amount on the tree sap.
It just melted the tree sap away without harm to the paint.

I was then told by a friend that the best way to get rid of tree sap is to use a sponge or cloth, and continually dab the sap with warm water, the warmth melts it away.

Good Luck.

Clay bar would be your best bet. Try looking through this section of the forum.
